I agree.
An italian writer once said that the roles of the left and the right have switched over the years: decades ago, the Left was on the side of workers and against big corporations, they promoted strikes, etc., while the Right was mainly the defender of the interests of the upper class.
Now the Right, as you say, is more close to the working class, and the Left has become a bunch of intellectuals disconnected from reality, who support big companies who treat workers like shit (it's like they've become uncapable of seeing through corporate bullshit, and trust every single buzzword they throw in). Some leftists support workers only by word of mouth, but deep down they now despise them, and keep them at a safe distance.
The thing gets even more ridiculous when modern leftists consider themselves "revolutionary" while supporting big companies, trusting everything the government says, etc., and start frothing when someone points out the obvious.
while the Right cuts taxes for them again and again while raising taxes for everyone else. Huge multinationals make more and more profit while smaller companies can barely stay open. The right can do this because they dangle the carrot of conservative values over votes while convicing them that they also want everthing else that comes with the deal even if anyone with two functioning brain cells can see they will only end up hurting them. The Left can do it as well because they know that as long as the huge corporation changes it's logo during pride month and preaches about how much they love those stunning and brave trans folx their people will suppot it. The way I see it it's only the young right wing firebrands and centrist technocrats that are actually willing to stand up to any of this.
