You got it all: snake oil doctors and surgeons peddling their highly-experimental procedures as miracle cures for money and fame, popularity growing mostly due to controlling parents wanting to push it on their kids, the wider medical community staying mostly silent to save face despite knowing or at least suspecting the procedure’s a bad idea, guilt-tripping the uncertain parents by telling them the alternatives are so much worse they’d actually be doing the right thing going through with it, sweeping all the bad results under a rug or very few doing follow-ups to see the how the patients are doing later down the line, probably won’t see the full extent of the damage for another couple decades, etc.

Only thing missing is one high-profile disaster case that causes the whole house of cards to come tumbling down.

The only reason why this troon craze is happening is because of something simple: Money.

Like the military industrial complex, a lot of money is being made by the medical industry to not only give hapless teens HRT's and hormone blockers, but surgeries and a constant flow of pain meds and hormone drugs to maintain their rather destroyed form of existence. The pharmaceutical industry will make gangbusters with a steady flow of income coming from these troons.

Troons will also become the very person that corporations get horny for: The ideal consoomer. Since troons can no longer have a family, they become prime targets for corporations to fulfill their rather destroyed lives with endless amounts of mindless entertainment, food and affirming messages to keep them interested and not wanting to blow their heads off with a shotgun. No matter how shitty the food gets, no matter how mindless the entertainment is, and no matter how idiotic the blog posts could be about trans issues, these troons will still consume them because they not only need to keep themselves away from committing suicide, but they also already are on the sunk-cost fallacy where they sink so much money into this ideology, that admitting they made a mistake would mean them realizing they spent all this money to wreck their bodies and succumb to a rather corporate lifestyle where they are the paypiggies.

This is also great for authoritarian governments, because troons are obsessed with being comfortable, that they will do anything to limit other people's freedoms to feel safe. All the government has to do is to promise that they'll make the mean people go away, and troons will flock to them like flies to honey. Less freedom for you and more comfort for the troon.

Troons are basically the IDEAL useful idiot. They are perfect for authoritarian governments for control, and they're perfect for mega-corporations to make tons of money. And because of them destroying their bodies to sever their chances of having a family, it'll be next to impossible to convince these idiots that their life is not worth living for.
