Gamergate III: Rise of the Machines

I really dunno who the fuck to blame for this shit but seems that the only constant is NoA or Nintendo being the publisher. People namedrop 8-4 and Treehouse but at the end seems that Nintendo itself is the one calling the shoots of the most inane decisions that involves coding.

Why the heck somebody thinks that removing bad endings from side quests is worthwhile at all is anyone guess. Are Nintendo, Square Enix or 8-4 that deluded in thinking they can pass the Bravely franchise as a kid friendly one just by changing a aspect of the games while leaving the already pretty dark main story mostly unchanged?

Seems people are getting gutter in Treehouse but I fear the problem is beyond employees like Nich or Alison Rapp and more like their enablers.

But hey, the SJWs say that fuck us even if they agree the changes are BS, as willing to admit that censorship often gives more leeway to companies to do shit like this (whatever it makes sense or not) would be admitting "yes we are taking your games... Hell we are taking out the games we like but NO U"

I fear for #FE, as people have said that is actually a very good game if very, very, very Japanese centric

Rapp and Nich are symptoms of a disease. One that, of all fucking people, Jim Sterling called four years ago:

All indication is that Nintendo of America hates actually localizing. A few years ago, during the Xenoblade debacle (one that wise widely-covered), Chris Pranger, the current head of Treehouse, was fired for flat-out insulting people for calls to localize the game, arguing that the game was too niche.

If you're not familiar, Xenoblade got localized by Nintendo of Europe. It was already translated, already voiced-over in English. All you needed to do is adjust the settings and the thing would have been good to go stateside. NOA had no legitimate reason to not want to do it, other than they don't seem to feel like it. There's publishers that do nothing but bring these games out, and they provably sell better stateside, so the argument that it was "too niche" or wouldn't be financially successful is bullshit.

There was an argument made once, a long time ago on /v/, that Treehouse intentionally fucks up translations in the hopes of making sure these games fail and thus no more come stateside. Given this knowledge, I'm really beginning to question if that's the usual diseased ramblings of /v/, or if there was a bit of truth ensconced within.

I remember the Xenoblade case, and I remember how much Reggie dismissed it and how much exasperated it was the fact that game was sold as retail exclusive (if you were not from US or Canada, you were truly fucked ). I also remember how we didn't get the sequel of Hotel Dusk (I needed to import) and how Inazuma Eleven games are ignored because NoA/Level5 refuses to admit that the rest of the continent likes soccer. NoA was also hated back then but there were also rumors this decisions were made from Japan. In any case, it seems Nintendo of Europe also doesn't have much to say anymore as they even get shacked by the changes beyond translations, as now they are starting to get the same cuts.

It feelt more like they would like to focus in casual no story heavy stuff that was dominating the Wii era (the era were also NoA lost a lot of independence from heardquarters) than the current projects that were made when Iwata tried to appeal the core gamers. But the changes are so insane that I'm not really sure anymore if is just NoA fucking with us as even their PR has turned in condescending marketing speech.

Now that Iwata is dead seems that, whatever if is NoA or Heardquaters, we are getting back to not even bothering to explain changes at all and making cuts because some suit feels that is better to appeal to that imaginary kiddy audience that is going to stop playing Minecraft to get their 3DS and play a JRPG throwback game than the fans that also needed to beg to both Square and Nintendo to bother to bring the first game stateside (because Square didn't have faith in the first game to begin with and Nintendo needed the goodwill ) and actually made the first game a success in the western market.

Personally I wil say: fuck Nintendo as a whole. I bought a WiiU because I wanted to play Xenoblade X, that game was the selling point of that console to me. I bought a 3DS becuase I wanted to play JRPGS and other japanese games as the console output of the japanese industry is lower year after year so they focus more in handhelds. I bought the original Xenoblade at import price because the local video game chains dindn't guarantee a copy but I wanted more of this games coming to the west and I wanted that Nintendo realized that story driven games are marketable. But in the end, I guess Nintendo really wants that soccer mom money as now they not even pretend to care for fans that are not constantly given them praises or asking to eat more of the corporate bulshit they like to say when questioned. No surprise that the SJWS feel a kindred spirit in a company that spins fuck ups with a messianic "we are doing the thing that not other company will do".

Lol now Gamergate thinks it's okay to police employees opinions and report them to their employers when they say things they don't like. What happened to being anti-censorship and against political correctness gone bad you guys? It's okay as long as it's a feminist right?

Did you miss the part where she was white knighting a no shit pedophile and picking fights on Twitter?

Both sides of this thing have doxed and harassed each other in every imaginable way since the beginning.

From her work account. While working as the PR rep for a company that wants to promote a family-friendly image.

Yknow, like the journalism professor who got fired after she trampled over Freedom of Press.

Yeah, that's like becoming a cop and then openly admitting to having a criminal history. You overshoot "victim" and fly straight into "Darwin Award"

She is a pretty outspoken working as PR in a company that feels that needs to remove outfits from horror game because they care in how the look in front of wisp moms while the social group of Alison celebrates and accouse anyone that doesn't like that as IRL pedophile.

I will not celebrate she losing her job because her opinions (that, for the record, are horrible and desingenious as she tries really hard to not to make distictions between fictional depictions and exploiting real children)but I will no feel sorry for her as her views doesn't match her actions.

Dan Oleson's whole article on it for one, the one GGers tried to get him arrested for.

That one artcile that has become infamous because he was also downloading the pictures to 8chan to validate his article and win a internet slap fight?
