I just looked at this woman's thesis and it made me queasy as the father of two girls. No question she's a child porn apologist. I don't care about this Gamergate crap but it is weird to me that someone with those extreme views would be employed in such a public-facing position by Nintendo.

Yeah, but her job is not academic related: Is fucking PR. Don't get me wrong, we should separate academic work from professional one but her current job is about being a spokerman of a big corporation. She has made clear that she actually agrees with the stuff she is saying in her thesis to the point of saying that is 'political view that is not secret'. This is how she is presenting herself and her company in social media, and this is how she choose to present herself in her corriculum. Nintendo has fired people FOR LESS and has taken company decisions FOR LESS, gender studies academics have asked for the head of other people FOR LESS. So yeah, I think there is a genuine reason to somebody to complain about how a spokerman of big corp is having this views, specially since seem to be unchanged and open to the public.

He didn't actually get fired. He resigned under fire, but not at the demand of the Mozilla Foundation itself. They even have a FAQ about this. They even offered him a comparable position if he resigned as CEO and did not want to get rid of him. I think the whole brouhaha and the pressure put on the Foundation to try to make it impossible to do his job.

I just don't think the Foundation itself should take flak for something they didn't do.

So recently it was revealed that Bravely Second has had sweeping changes that - you guessed it - cripple the game in some fashion (this time, fucking over the bittersweet or tragic moments the game can have):
