I could be completely autistic here, or it is just hangover. But lets entertain this hypothesis, if for nothing else just for entertainment.

Maybe "going woke" is not the cause but the result of the decline of the industry,
Maybe they just went woke because there was not much money left in the industry and the only people they could afford to hire was
terminally online and desperately poor people living sub-starvation lifes?
I.e. they did not go woke because they wanted to but they did because they reached a stage where broke woke people were the only ones they could afford to hire?

The US comics industry has long struggled since the 1950s according to my study. A mix of not fighting back against hordes of censorship happy morality squads who have long cried "THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!" leading to self imposed destructive practices that starve and hamper creativity will do this, but the real nail in the coffin was the failure of not realizing these problems or actually tackling the problems that plauged comic books after the 1996 Comic Book Industry Crash. Any industry and community can suffer these set backs, but the real killer is indifference.

Despite how much the Dark Ages of Comic Books was a nadir, there was an attempt to try to make new heroes and try new angles of the genre. I at least liked that about the Dark Ages. Marvel and DC however still clung to their pearls, and their past acts of maintaining the status quo as imposed by the tyranny of the majority is what lead to today's incarnation of the Big Two.

I guess he felt entitled to easy success and other people's money and/or has been high on his own kayfabe e-persona to a degree where he's convinced himself that it was his personality that was moving books and not his presence in Frog's slipstream.

Maybe the humbling will do him some good.

Nice of him to give them cover to do that, right? It was honestly kind of shameful to see the way CG has clung to the YouTube/Indiegogo pipeline as though nothing can possibly go wrong with this business model. Personal e-commerce infrastructure can’t cover all the bases, but it does represent a step in the right direction.

It seems to me that all the forward momentum in CG these days seems to be coming out of the Ballers. Parnell is a workhorse who delivers consistently. Mandy plays the Stan Lee role for a bunch of oddball projects by a bunch of other people, but gets the goods delivered. Shane is on track to go two for two with his releases, both with art of unimpeachably high quality. And then you’ve got Keown, the Cecil Spicoli of the bunch, acting like the life of the party, never personally grabbing for a cent of your cash, and dropping top notch pinups every couple weeks.
If this was how CG had been from the jump, it would be unstoppable.
Everybody else just seems to be chasing shine from YouTube losers.

I guess the 2 from the list that are really interesting and wondering why they would be "shadow banned" are The Remnant and Angels Awakening. I don't think either of the main creators are controversial in any way. The Remnant has nothing picture wise that would make me think it wouldnt be promotable. The most "risque" from Angels Awakening picture is this.

The rest have main the character fairly covered up. I just wonder if they pissed someone at IGG off.

You have a bunch of deconstructionist, rebooted material coming out in the midst of that crash that in no way appeals to kids, and at the same time manga comes up to take its place. And the actual American kids content doesn’t even get marketed well.

Among other things, Nerdrotic and others went to great pains to try and defend G&G for that. Later, that continued on into some beef between FROG and the other Jeremy (Quartering) concerning Quartering's ill conceived idea to try and get Frosk on his show. I think FROG was fearing a similar disaster.

And the other main thing about manga is that unlike the legacy DC and Marvel comics, there are new and bespoke stories and themes being published by new mangakas all the time. If that weren't the case with manga, we'd be on reboots and sequels of sequels of old stories like Dragonball, but across a whole slew of older stories like Fist of the North Star and My Neighbor Totoro. The manga field stays fresh with new blood which in turn makes it more accessible to newcomers.

There's probably a multitude of reasons to criticize July, but that ain't one of them. JFC.
