Overwatch

The amount of dickriding for Blizzard I've seen on twitter the last week or so has me convinced 100% that Overwatch players have the lowest standards of all time.

Halo Infinite got players upset with all the bullshit 343 did and now barely anyone plays the game anymore.

BF2042 had the same shit happen to them as well.

But Overwatch players? They're either abandoning the game outright or slurping up Blizzard cum right off the ground and getting defensive about any slight criticism of the game.
Blizzard fans are subhuman so of course they will behave as such. I remember playing Overwatch back when it first came out. And admittedly I had fun. But I was a disgruntled TF2 player, and as time went on I saw the issues with the game and dropped it. I guess they're "trying" to fix the issues that I had but its far too late for me to care, and fuck Blizzard and Activision, they're almost as shit as EA which is a pretty low bar.

The only other games that I can think of that have just as low standards is the Pokémon games.
To give small amount of credit pokemon games, they designed for children-teens, with a cult following of people who grew up with it that buy it no matter what people say bad about it. I'll rather they up the standards myself, but when you cater to literal children and people who havn't grown up and will buy it anyway, what do you expect.

But then let's look at overwatch's fandom. Streamer bait with a side of horny teens, and coomers. Follow by a cult following of people who grew up with blizzard before becoming a hollowed out shell being weekend at bernies'ed by activsion. These people make the nintendo cult buyer look sane by virtue of the gutter gunk they willing to buy and then feed out of Blizz's ass.

Nintendo and the pokemon company put a some effort into it not a lot, but some, while the launch of overwatch one and a half shows how less of a standard they have then even fucking pokemon.

I wish they fold and end this cycle of making gaming worse by existing.

Blizzard's games have a certain cult-like behavior to them, that draws players to keep on playing them, even if the games have major issues. The fact that Overwatch is seemingly a more ESG-friendly game, compared to Halo Infinite and Battlefield 2042 (the only notable ESG design for that game is making Sundance a Black French non-binary anarchist with a wingsuit), plays a factor as well.

The only other games that I can think of that have just as low standards is the Pokémon games.
That's a pretty unfair comparison for the Pokemon games.

Sure - the games tend to be samey and gimmicky, but at least they try new things and formats in an attempt to keep it fresh.

Off the top of my head
- Pokemon can learn to use "held items", either RPG style items or Berries
- Pokemon can fight in 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 formats.
- Pokemon can occupy a ton of different "states" during battle (Dig puts you underground, Fly in the air, Dive underwater, Minimize behind a copy, etc) and there are specific moves that target these "states" (Earthquake does 2x to underground monsters, Smackdown cancels Fly, etc)
- A complete "typing" overhaul (rebalancing the types - adding Dark, Steel, and Fairy)
- Pokemon can control (and fight for control) of the weather during battle (Rain dance makes it rain, I forget the name but makes it sunny, Sand storm causes a sandstorm)
- Pokemon also spawn with innate abilities (and have a pool of 2/3 options) that will affect how it's used (aka No Guard means no attacks will miss so you can load up on huge 50 accuracy moves). These abilities can be tampered with though combat also.

These are all just battle related over the years - which is to say nothing over the "side games" (Pokemon Snap, Pokemon Go!, Pokemon Let's Go!, Pokemon Stadium/XD, Pokken Fighter, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, Pokemon Arceus) or concepts like the Pokewalker.

Overwatch 1 to Overwatch 2
- Format forcibly changed from 6v6 to 5v5
- New skins
- Some character retools to account for a 1 tank format
- Monetization change from lootboxes to Battlepass

The Overwatch dev cycle and content update pace makes the Pokemon devs look like all stars by comparison.

I'm totally late to the party but only just found out lootboxes are gone and the game pretty much adopted the same model as F2P games like Paladins. Seems rather worrying. One of the things I liked about Overwatch compared to its competitors was that you'd amass a huge amount of skins if you played somewhat regularly and got your boxes without ever having to for them. They were also a nice reward compared to just getting some extra battle pass xp or whatever.
Not that it was perfect of course, the random element could really work against you and arguably Overwatch was a milestone that made microtransactions what they are today.
Guess I'll have to look into how many credits the game actually gives you to buy skins with.
Turns out the monetization is even worse than I thought. The Credits I was looking at are actually "Legacy Credits" As in, the credits you had left over from duplicates in OW1. You can't get any more of them.
The new currency which you'll use are "coins"(which you can of course buy with money). You can earn a whopping 60 of them per week by doing a bunch of challenges.
Meanwhile you're looking at prices like these for cosmetics:

>it would take over half a year as a f2p player to unlock one (1) legendary skin

Kiriko shouldn't be locked for you if you've played the base game, you get her right away. She is locked in ranked though.

I heard PvE is supposed to come next year.
Can care less. As a player who started in 2016 OV was fun if you took it casually.

However I WILL NOT give them my phone number as I know what these fuckers will do with it.

Sell it to advertiser as well as having messages on my cell phone on "Important News"!

Fuck that shit. And I've already went online after Blizzard made their comment of not having a cell to get into the game for legacy players.

And YUP they wanted my phone number.

Fuck that shit. SNS is made to gather additional information on YOU.

Those assholes. I'll play War Frame or get into some MMORG for causal play.

I'm too old dealing with certified WOKE DICKS in the Entertainment industry.

And considering that Rock Star games have been hack and your private info is now out in the internet do you actually think I'm going to play Overwatch now with that possibility happening to Blizzards servers as well.

I can tell you right now those assholes do not put much money into IT.

I can tell you that OW2 is a hack job. The tools available for character creation are IMHO the same one used in OW1.

OW2 is nothing but a DLC turned into a shitty assed game.

I hate to say it, but I played it tonight and had a good time. Thought that 5v5 would suck but it seems pretty much the same.

It's probably just a perfect storm sort of thing. I owned the first one and played it regularly from 2016-2019. So everything was still there, didn't have any issues carrying stuff over. I also didn't have to link my number or anything like that.

So I have all the heroes unlocked and all my old skins still there. I also didn't have to wait more than a minute for a game - keep in mind this is late Sunday night in Australia. I'm guessing the insane 30k player queues and DDOSs have been fixed.

Fuck Blizzard though. I'll play their game for free and enjoy it but I'm not giving them a dime. The cosmetics are absolutely ridiculously priced.

There's a known bug where OW1 legacy accounts will still have the characters locked out. It happened to one of my accounts but was eventually fixed.

Dear Activision Blizzard,
Other than the initial purchase of Overwatch, the only thing I've ever spent money on regarding the game is loot boxes.
No loot boxes? No money from me.
I'm sure you care and all your executives and accountants are now sweating profusely.
You're welcome.

EDIT
I forgot about the single box of Lucio-Os I bought back in the day.
So yeah.
Initial purchase of game, loot boxes, and cereal.
No more.

the game is fun and all if you play it casually but its still just overwatch by the end of the day. is it me, or do the players seem more retarded than they used to be? so many just run off on their own and end up getting killed or they forget to push the payload.

i also realized you cant give positive feedback to the enemy plays anymore and just players on your side. the reward for not being "toxic" is also dogshit compered to the first game (the first game gave you three lootboxes while in the second game, you just get one signal battlepass coin. that's it).

the interface is so soulless compered to the first game.

I'm getting used to 5v5 but still don't like it. Also the push maps suck, they're way too open and no one ever stays together.
The Push maps are the only new thing I like about the game. I think the openness and the speed of the robot make the team-fights more fun and fast, you're running back and forth instead of always fighting on a slow payload. There are more angles you can take on someone and more opportunities for flanking.

The amount of people who just run off nowhere near the payload is infuriating, I'm gonna get banned for flaming eventually. The worst is the Reins who charge face first into the enemy team and suicide when there's literally no fucking reason to leave the payload.

Definitely not just you, I have to constantly say "group up" (which I already did plenty of in OW1) and nine times out of ten the dumbasses don't listen. Playing support is especially aggravating because they expect you to stick your neck out by following them into the fray. And when everyone is split up on the push maps, forget about it.
