Blizzard recently disclosed that Overwatch 2 has a lot of known issues. One of the problems that players are running into involves achievements. As spotted by True Achievements, players have reported that they get booted from the game and server when they unlock an achievement.

Overwatch 2's achievement list is pretty much the same as the original game, with some changes, and six brand-new achievements for the sequel.

Exactly what's causing the achievement-related crashes is unknown, but it fans have theorized it has something to do with the general instability of the game right now.

Blizzard recently owned up to Overwatch 2's rocky start, saying the game failed to meet the expectations of both the studio and fans alike. The studio is making some changes to the game going forward, including removing the controversial mobile phone requirement for many.

Blizzard said all of Overwatch 2's launch issues were exacerbated by the DDoS attacks against the game. "They did not directly cause any of these issues, they made the environment in which we work on these issues more challenging."

Despite the launch issues, Overwatch 2--which is a free-to-play title--has already attracted a huge audience of "millions," according to Blizzard.

I can't help but to lol as this HAPPENED TO ME. I was popping off as Orisa, I got DC'd on Series X and saw an achievement notification pop-up. Hence why I have been sitting in an hour+ queue.

Edit: I just got in, so the question is do I semi-throw to avoid being DC or do I continue to pop-off until I get an achievement that'll DC me from servers? Decisions, decisions...

Edit 2: Within 3 minutes of my 1st edit, I got an achievement with Orisa for killing someone by outbounds with my javelin and it logged me out. It wasn't even my kill originally as Lucio booped him into the Illios well and I pinned the Roadhog as he we was already falling into it.

There's a key difference between "having a smart phone" and "having a phone and being willing to give it to Activision/Blizzard - a company with not a super great reputation for account security".

There's also no real reason for "records your voice at all times" either - it's pretty needless and is extremely limited in scope - considering how mediocre Blizzard's GMs notably are.

Yeah, I love to hunt for achievements so this is yet another deal breaker for me. Even so, how unstable is your game to where it cannot handle notifications?

Okay, my account merged so now I've got all that I had back when OW1 was operational last week. I play with my friend who hasn't played since 2016 and we've been having fun. But that yesterday and the day before. When my account merged, I'm guessing either SBMM kicked in because of that of because of my wins as we started getting into some games where there team diffs. He doesn't play the game so as I'm ranting mid-gameplay I ultimately know it's not his fault but it was infuriating knowing that I'm losing because my friend hasn't played this game and we're being matched with some sweats. Which leads me to this: in this 5v5 and the new scoreboard, you can pinpoint who exactly is costing you your match and you can friggin' feel it in your bones. In OW1 it could be bad but not as bad as it is now due to the 2 less players. I hope to God they accurately pinpoint people's skill level and matchmaking accordingly or I don't see myself playing comp.

If you are willing to play the game with the defaults and have no interest in unlocking cosmetics then yes it is free. Otherwise it is a micro transaction laden nightmare.

You also have to unlock most of the cast if you didn't previously own OW1 and if you want to play Kiriko for free then you have to grind the battle pass to level 55.

The Achievement thing is dumb af, happened to me with Orisa in competitive and I was popping off. Really solid launch and at the weekend too, so you know its not going to be fixed.

Blizzards hiring practices are truly a marvel.

Cause I got banned in OW because I called people faggots too many times Blizzard wanted me to pay twice for their shitty game.

Also why are people calling Tracer in a Japanese cosplay "Kiriko"?

Yes because despite the "2" it is the same game. Whatever progress, unlocks and bans that are linked to your account will still be there. Look on the bright side though, you no longer have to pay a dime to play this game if you start over with a new account. Enjoy the 150 match grind to unlock all heroes.
