Before social media and troon activist nonsense it really was rare to see someone in real life that is identifiably a tranny (still is for me). My peak trans was when I attempted to reason with and find compromise with trans activists and ended up being personally blamed for trans suicides. I was assured by some that gender dysphoria is crippling and the only cure is transition. I was told that doctors require transitioners to socially transition and use the facilities appropriate for their gender. I asked if it was possible to require that a doctor provide documentation stating that a person is trans in order for them to use the locker rooms/bathrooms and all hell broke loose.

I was accused of wanting a Nazi "papers please" situation because I thought all trans were predators. I explained that I did not think that all trans were predators, but that I was not born yesterday and I know that predators exist and absolutely will take advantage of gender self ID to access private women's spaces. I said that girls changing for swim class at the Y don't need to see hanging dong in the locker room. The response was that "Americans are too uptight about nudity" and "kids know and see way more than you give them credit for". That's when I realized that these people care nothing for women's modesty concerns. The goal was not to make transgender people safe, it was to break down societal norms about what is appropriate.

I argued that it was not okay to dismiss women's concerns and that women who had been abused previously, for instance, might be even more sensitive to and uncomfortable with male genitals in places where they wish to feel safe. It was then that I was accused, in a long, rhapsodic and aggressive rant, of being personally responsible for all of the suicides of trans people that this particular trans activist knew. My concern for female safety ultimately saw me nearly accused of the "murder by proxy" of trans people.

I realized that there was no compromise possible because these people are deranged and unreasonable. That was peak trans, but a few years after that I saw the trans community decide that this "crippling gender dysphoria" that they had previously claimed was debilitating and required kid gloves did not even need to be present in order for someone to be trans. They started to call people with dysphoria "truscum."

YMCA gyms actually are shifting to nongendered locker rooms - the part where you get naked is basically a separate compartment with toilet and shower, and the part with the lockers and benches is open to the rest of the building. There is usually an area with a shower head where you are supposed to rinse off before/after entering the pool but I can't put it past some AGP to strip down and affirm his gender there under the guise of "oh I thought this was where you showered if you didn't need a private room!"

Still massively uncomfortable to be in a wet suit in front of a bunch of lookie-loos not of your gender while you get your clothes out from the locker, which is why I go to the ones that don't have that style of locker rooms [yet].

Let me tell you that these people are so unreasonable that they will not like this change. They demand that they be treated as the sex they identify as and these types of accommodations to respect everyone's privacy anger them. They feel that they are being treated as "separate but equal". When schools tried to make adjustments for trans students by offering them a private bathroom, people protested because they "need to be allowed into the bathroom that matches their gender".

Some years ago there was a story about a teen MtF who was allowed in the girls locker room and made the other girls uncomfortable because they were doing sexually suggestive dances and commenting about the appearance of girls' boobs in bras, sometimes expressing jealousy. This was dismissed as "acting like a teen girl". But every woman knows that it is not. Women know. We know when someone is being creepy.
