It really shows you that disney lost their passion that they once had years ago. Now just doing seamless remakes of their classic that are not as good as their orginal counterparts.I know right?! Like, I knew that del Toro's version was going to be at the very least, good, and leave the other two in the dust, but HOLY SHIT, bro, it's not even a fucking contest at this point.
Two more things of note:
1. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the art direction. The Italian aesthetic is gorgeous, and Pinocchio looks like a real wooden boy.
2. I also love how Pinocchio seems to be a re-incarnation of Geppetto's dead son, giving Geppetto a bit of pathos as well. (ALSO HIS SON IS NAMED CARLO, LIKE CARLO COLLODI, MY HEART, AAAAAAAA)
If this movie happens to hit a theater near me, you can bet your ass I'm gonna go see it. This movie clearly had a lot of love and care put into it, and damn if I'm gonna let it go to waste.
Well del Toro and his team show passion and soul in their version.
