My spouse's boss got acupuncture for their dog and it did absolutely fuck all for its back problem. They delayed surgery to keep pursuing ancient Chinese secrets to the point that the dog went lame and had to be put down. If you wanna burn sage and save your toenails in a wet napkin, go nuts. Just don't flood the medical industry with professionals that recommend faith healing as a reliable path to curing disease.

Look all I am saying is if I wanted to fight depression, I'd sooner take a herbal cocktail than fuck my brain up on anti-depressants.
Western Medicine has been fucking up a lot lately, like pushing out a half-baked vax in the name of profits and at the expense of liberty. Jumping on the troon bandwagon and actively trying to sell people the snip even though it just makes the already obsurd suicide rate worse. Suppressing promising research for cures to preserve profits. Chemically lobotomizing people with psychiatric meds. Pushing assisted suicide onto people with disregard for their families.
Frankly people should be more skeptical of Western Medicine and the bizarre trust the science cult it developed. Trad med has a lot of issues, but at least the worst a herb cocktail can do is act as a placebo.
Also acupuncture on a dog is the most retarded thing I heard in a while and I wonder how they even found someone to do it.

There's more to western medicine than fucking titty skittles, ssri's, and eunuch butchery. There's a lot of quackery in modern medicine, but at least it attempts to ground itself in reality in ways beyond "eat this rare rhino horn to get big boner", or "all the body has special points which can do magical things". You're better off going to a scientologist chiro who'll tell you some dumb shit about ketones than any licensed chinese medicine practitioner.

If alternative medicine worked, it would just be medicine. There is no alternative to medicine, there's just medicine and not-medicine. And a placebo effect is far from the worst possible outcome of that bullshit, there are plenty of examples of people ending up poisoned by "herbal remedies", and just look at Steve Jobs. Immediate surgery to remove the tumours probably would have saved him, but instead he decided to spend the best part of a year fucking about with acupuncture and fruit juice enemas.

During the Vietnam war the Americans had a very shitty treatment for Malaria that was often worse than the disease itself. Meanwhile the Chinese and Vietnamese had a treatment that actually helped with the disease from their traditional medicine. However, the woman who found this cure actually applied western methods to conclude that it actually treated people and had to go through multiple traditional cures that did not work.

It's not like your only choices are getting anti-depressants and hormones from western doctors or having a shaman wave his hands over you. Western medicine pushes a lot of bullshit because of profits and a vanity driven public but that doesn't discount things like insulin and organ transplants. Just be critical of what your doctor tells you and try to do at least the minimal amount of research before taking drugs. A huge portion of western health problems can be solved with lifestyle changes instead of drugs.

It never ceases to amaze me how guns are the ultimate evil to some.
