No they were not castrated.

The castrated ones were Nubians brought in from places like Egypt and Ethiopia to guard the harems.
Were still kidnapped from their parents and forced to convert to Islam under threat of headlessness though.
They weren't castrated actually and could even marry (though it wasn't common). You don't want an elite infantry corps to end up suffering from weird castrato shit.
Only later on. For most of their history the janissaries were forbidden from having families to prevent loyalties to anything besides the Sultan.

I didn't deny how they were taken, just that they weren't the ones sent to the involuntary sex reassignment table.

Though their rebellion forced the Ottomans to modernize their military in the end.

I've said it before, pinning stuff on Trump criminally isn't about preventing his ability to run for President, it's about covering the GOP who are going to try to not let him run on their ticket.

I'm not saying they will, things may be at as position they don't even try, but I'm sure that's a plan the higher ups in the GOP have on the table.

"They would never do that, it'd be political suicide of the party beyond the greatest scope of satire of how far the GOP will go to lose!" The GOP was blatantly complacent in allowing the Democrats to cheat to a degree that isn't even subtle. The Steal was allowed and assisted by Republicans, very publicly in Georgia, and I don't think any of them suffered politically for it. I know I'll get Trash Cans and called a Doomer, but it's not just the Democrats that we need to worry about.

There are people in the GOP who seem eager to not do anything for their constituents and only instead focus on getting more money in their pockets. At this point it is not enough to simply conserve, one must restore instead.

I m wondering who will run for the dems

I'm curious how people are going to rationalize their support of DeSantis now that he's plainly the establishment's pick.
That assumes he takes the nomination. All the support that I've seen expressed for him has been on the basis that he sticks to his promise to complete his second term as governor, before doing anything presidential. He could flip-flop on anything else, but going back on that particular promise would be political suicide. The GOP are obviously trying to propel him into the nomination, but until he actually indicates he will take it, it's all just talk by people who don't want to face reality.

He wouldn't be getting promoted throughout right wing media as he has if he personally was against taking the nomination.

DeSantis has even made a point of visiting other states, seemingly to help lay the groundwork for a national campaign. He obviously doesn't want to outright state he'll run just yet (as he'd be having to go against Trump more openly), but he's pretty likely to at some point and he has the establishment support from people like Paul Ryan who work at Fox News which would guarantee he'd get plenty great coverage/promotion there.

As Florida’s governor, Ron DeSantis, packs his suitcase for a five-day trip to campaign for Trump-endorsed candidates, he might afford himself a dastardly chuckle.

The trek, taking in Arizona, New Mexico, Ohio and Pennsylvania is nominally aimed at boosting Republicans’ chances ahead of November’s crucial primaries. For DeSantis, however, there is surely a grander design. Each of the rising Republican star’s destinations is a swing state, key to winning the 2024 presidential election.

Vermin like the Garbagecan's columnists are the ones driving this "Trump vs DeSantis" narrative to divide-and-conquer. Both men have rejected it.

It's still too early to tell. Right now, Trump is still Kingmaker, and DeSantis is the heir apparent of the Party. Meanwhile, the normiecons can either fall in line with MAGA or get lost.

It still blows my mind that the guy from The Apprentice is now who like 90% of our political apparatus revolves around. EVERYTHING that happens must relate back to him, somehow, and everyone is compared to him. People I know will say it's bad when I point it out, and I just say it's a sign of how fake, gay, and controlled our discourse is, and probably preferable to the alternative at any rate.

God forbid you try to discuss real issues without someone chiming in how Trump would have handled it poorly. Just incredible.
