What's up with mods and newer Minecraft? The mod packages I used to play with haven't updated for any of the newer Minecraft versions. They are still updating regularly, but aren't updating to support the recent Minecrafts.
I sperged about this earlier in this thread, the whole modding community got split after 1.12.2's release.

Long story short: Seeing as Modern minecraft updates more frequently and the game itself is now completely different from what it was in 1.12, a lot of mod developers (mostly the veterans) have decided to stay in their respective versions.

For the most part, newer versions of Minecraft have entirely new mod devs taking advantage of the older mods' absent in the modern Minecraft scene.

Starting new worlds in Minecraft is always annoying as shit, especially if you're playing with mods. 9/10 times, I spawn in some shithole desert or ice tundra. Even when I don't, my worlds last like a week at most, because I just get bored with them or I fuck them up in some way

They probably won't ever support the newer minecrafts for 3 reasons

1) Mojangs censorship

2) The cave update increasing the workload required for pcs

3) Minecraft for awhile has already had "enough" features and mojang doesn't seem like they know what they're doing and are just adding odd crap

4) Convenience

For these reasons I think mods should ideally just stay within 1.12.2 or the nether update.

Well the old versions are still around if you've got some awesome mods to keep playing with.

Reviving this thread to talk about the recent mob vote. The three options shown are:

The Sniffer:
The Sniffer is an ancient mob that can only be found by hatching it from one of its eggs. These eggs can only be found in underwater chest (I'm assuming that means shipwrecks, underwater ruins and maybe a new structure).

The Sniffer's use is its ability to dig for seeds that can be used to grow new decorative plants.

The Rascal:
The Rascal is a mob that can be found around mineshafts. Its whole gimmick is that it wants you to play a game of Hide & Seek with it.

If you manage to find the Rascal three times, it rewards with an item that can aid you in mining (with one of the examples listed being an enchanted iron pickaxe).

And the Tuff Golem:
The Tuff Golem is a mob that's both a decoration and a pedestal.

When it's placed down, it will sometimes awaken and pick up any items that you put down. From there, it will wander around your base before going back to where it was placed and going dormant (at least that's what I think it does).

Another important aspect of this mob vote is that it won't be happening on Twitter. It will instead be taking place in three places:

The Minecraft website, The minecraft launcher and a special server in Bedrock edition.

This was confirmed a while ago in a "Minecraft Now" stream where they had players vote on which boss was the best in a bedrock server.

I wonder which youtuber is going to hijack the vote this time...

As someone who's gotten used to golems from Thaumcraft, I'm more interested in the Rascal and the Sniffer. With the information released so far it doesn't seem like you can use them for automation.

If you ask me, the Tuff Golem is the least appealing choice. It does what the Allay can already accomplish, but on a much smaller scale.

The Sniffer is a first pick for me with the Rascal being my second. I like the idea of having a mob be a loot item via the Sniffer and having new plants to put around my house is always nice.

The Rascal could be a fun way of resupplying underground. But, as quite a few people have already pointed out, he could wind up being a useless mob in the late game.

The rascal Sounds like an underground wandering trader. Useful once or twice, Then you end up killing the rest to get them out of your hair.

I think the sniffer is best followed by the tuff golem.
I like using a lot of flowers in my minecraft bases and I like pedastools and the idea of using the golems as butlers/waiters.
The Rascal's loot is pretty meh and since Minecraft's terrain traversal is kinda crappy it could get annoying fast.

I don't know if you guys have heard of the "Ultimate Survival World", but basically it's a project a YouTuber was undertaking to make a huge survival map packed with content, and also to turn the development of it into a series of videos focusing on the making of each section for both entertainment and of course ad money.
He recently announced the "release" of the map - it's on Patreon only, but fine, whatever, he worked hard on it, right? Let's just take a look at the advertisement...

Yes, you read that right... he put a player limit on a map you are PAYING FOR for your own use, AND has the audacity to say "well you can pay me a bit extra and maybe I'll increase it... but only a little :^)"
I've managed to track down a picture of the creator and have attached it below.

This had better be a fucking amazing map because Planet Minecraft is absolutely riddled with excellent survival and survival CTM maps.
I played the hell out of these back in highschool and there's a squillion more that I probably don't even know about.
