Speaking of a chromosome abundance:
Some youtuber made a 90 minute act to act comparison between 2077 and Edgerunners.

Yes, i watched it all. He makes some good points, some not so good points but the thing i didn't expect from it is how the point by point breakdown made me appreciate the story and themes of 2077 more and i kind of think less of Edgerunners now (though i never thought it was exceptionally good as some people made it out to be).
There's so many good themes and ideas in 2077 like how technology literally consumes the persons soul (brain) and how the "engrams" are not a work around to death despite how much characters lie to themselves about it. You have crazy killer AI. The theme of a mans desperation as his dreams of being the best are met with a very real and constant reminder of his mortality. Some of the characters aren't too bad either. The reinforcement of how alone a person trully is in Nightcity and how there are no saviors. Yet CDPR fumbled it so fucking hard. If they had just gone with a shorter 15-20 hour experience, similar to a Mass Effect and Deus Ex and only kept the most interesting side-content but otherwise stayed focused on V's path and went with David Bowie Silverhand instead of Keanu Silverhand it could have been pretty fucking good.
Then with edgerunners it's so cliche and standard anime it's hard to fuck it up. The characters are either one note or follow standard archetypes. The whole portion with Mane's and later David's crew really play like a somewhat incompetent DnD party and the ending is good though somewhat rushed.
Two specific things i want to pluck from the video.
1. He mentioned how it's a missed opportunity of having the Corpo ending actually save V but he becomes just another corporate puppet, potentially even just replacing Adam Smasher which he killed. Which would really be an excellent dystopian and cyberpunk ending. Killing the man to save the body.
2. He mentioned that it's been all but confirmed that the game underwent huge rewrites to accommodate Keanu as a main Protagonist. Now as far as i'm aware those claims never made it out of rumor status. Does anyone have more information on that?
