And like others have said, the cyberpunk dystopia of IRL is not even an exciting one.you know we live in a cyberpunk dystopia
No cyborg babes, high tech super guns and nightclubs, but poverty, slavery and inevitable mass genocide. And like others have said, the cyberpunk dystopia of IRL is not even an exciting one.
Apart from the ethics, it more or less runs into the same issues as trannies trying to stuff the uteruses of dead women into their stinkditches. Even if the transplant is successful, it's still a foreign organ (both in the literal sense and the sense that men can't fucking give birth) that will necrotize and violently reject its new host, who, if they are not slowly killed, now have the immune system of wet toilet paper and are stuck on expensive antibiotics and routine dialysis treatments for the rest of their miserable lives. Keep in mind that with our current technology, we can barely make kidney transplants work without heavy medication to mitigate tissue rejection. It seems weird that despite pushing for immortality, these people don't seem to fund head transplants at all. Sure, it would still be an aged head but if you can make it actually be accepted on a younger donor body it would save all the other work of cybernetic bullshit at least for a few years. Maybe it's just that they consider it too high risk.
…and Here Are 10 Reasons Why That Is a Good Thing! No cyborg babes, high tech super guns and nightclubs, but poverty, slavery and inevitable mass genocide.
To be fair those were all precursors to the actual cyberpunk stuff where we cortex bombs and razorblades under our fingernailsNo cyborg babes, high tech super guns and nightclubs, but poverty, slavery and inevitable mass genocide.
Hopefully that last one doesn't happen. No cyborg babes, high tech super guns and nightclubs, but poverty, slavery and inevitable mass genocide.
Don't worry, there will be high-tech guns, but they aren't so super.Hopefully that last one doesn't happen.
Also there's "#MeToo" and treating straight "cis" men like potential rapists instead of cyborg babes, increased gun restrictions instead of high tech super guns, and "The New Normal" like "Zoom meetings" instead of high tech night clubs (at least back during coronapanic). Also I think cyberpunk fiction usually lacks "social media" as well.
This would be completely against what TPTB want. Owning guns, even if their usage is monitored and restricted, still means people have guns that could be used against the elites. This is really the only reason the Dems have yet to go full Nazi Night of the Long Knives on the population: they know that the moment they start killing off entire towns for wrong think, they will have a war on their hands.Don't worry, there will be high-tech guns, but they aren't so super.

I expect this to be the Second Amendment workaround in the US. You can own all the guns you want, but they're connected to the internet and tracked at all times, registered and usable only by you, and usable only in certain locations like an approved firing range. Some activist judges will rule that this fully complies with the Constitution. I fully expect countries with draconian gun laws like Japan or China will require this on what few guns exist (sport shooting is legal) before we see this in the West.
New Jersey actually tried to require this 20 years ago, but the technology didn't exist so it was impossible to comply with.
There's a reason most martial arts weapons are descended from farming implementsI guess what I am trying to say is, is that allowing the serfs guns is the last thing the power hungry elites want. Disarming everyone, while impossible, is the best case scenario in allowing you to rule over everyone with an iron fist.
I think it's more likely they'll require gun licenses and make those licenses prohibitively expensive. That way you can't arm yourself legally, but the super-rich can.Don't worry, there will be high-tech guns, but they aren't so super.

But they're also into incrementalism. That's how we go from no gun control to the NFA to the Assault Weapons Ban to NYC-style gun control. They won't just pass a law that says "guns are now illegal", they'll just say "all guns sold have to be smart guns tracked by the government" and then when some guy does a shooting with that they'll make it so you can only use that gun in certain locations, then people will still get shot or some celebrity will shoot himself in his home and then the amount of places you can use a gun becomes a firing range and...that's it.This would be completely against what TPTB want. While the idea of removing all guns from the American people is impossible to achieve thanks to 3D printing, autists who know how to make guns out of junk (think of the guy who assassinated Abe), guns off the grid thanks to unfortunate boating accidents, and the shitload of unregistered guns gushing in from Mexico, the elite think that as soon as the right laws are passed everyone will just HAVE to give up their guns, and then the mass murders and arrests can occur.

Edit: I cannot spell.
I believe that South Korea requires all Civilian owned firearms to be GPS tracked by law, not to mention that it has to be stored in a POLICE STATIONDon't worry, there will be high-tech guns, but they aren't so super.

Trying to push gun owners, and especially firearms enthusiasts to buy traceable high tech guns like that would just ensure that 3D printing becomes a staple of the industry. The Second Amendment is meant to check the state from exercising tyranny on the people who fund it with their tax dollars, and if you make it so that guns literally can't fire outside of designated areas, of which the state decides what is designated, and what isn't, you have essentially neutered 2A.Don't worry, there will be high-tech guns, but they aren't so super.

I'm old as balls and just autistic enough to see patterns.
Not always correct patterns, mind you.
Some little gremlin in my head keeps ranting about the late 1970s-early 1980s. I had been ignoring it and blamed binge watching Stranger Things recently.
Social Security in America is being raised by the largest amount in 40 years.
40 years ago was 1982.
Here are some Time magazine covers from that year. Four of them are not shown but they are interesting too.

Just... feels familiar, is all.
There are 3D printed guns in Japan and China. It's insanely illegal to own them (one Japanese guy uploaded a video of him printing one out and within hours the cops hauled him off to prison). If we're talking about doing end-runs around the Constitution, it seems like treating 3D printed gun manufacture like drug dealing and the files themselves like child porn and giving a similar sentence (5-10 years in jail) that Japan, China, Singapore, etc. do wouldn't be unconstitutional and would discourage people from owning or using guns.Trying to push gun owners, and especially firearms enthusiasts to buy traceable high tech guns like that would just ensure that 3D printing becomes a staple of the industry. I'm a luddite at heart. Guns are last thing that need microchips.
Power and control. But threads like this are mostly educated guesses on what they're up to. It's really no different than all the Westerners who make it their life's work to study some closed off country like the inner circles of Chinese politics or North Korea or back in the day the USSR. But most of those guys are part of some foreign policy think-tank or teach political science at colleges. Go figure that trying to discern how our own politics really work doesn't get you huge grants from three-letter agencies.I wish I knew for real what TPTB were up to.
I don't believe they are setting things in motion just to fuck with the little guy, because I don't think they care anough about the peasants to bother.
If the billionaires wanted money, they would just print more or hire someone to commit robberies.
I feel like I'm asking to have existance explained, so I'm not expecting an answer.
Just rambling.
