Quick-and-Dirty Informative Version:
An indie "game dev" who has only created one "game" of note using Twine (a glorified choose-your-own-adventure book) gets massive press despite no actual accomplishments. Her ex, fed up with her shit, drops the bombshell that she fucked people for coverage. This happened immediately after the Brad Wardell scandal, where dozens of game journalism groups utterly dropped their shit over a hoax, and when this dropped, they were completely silent.
Any discussion of this incident gets suppressed across multiple platforms, including ones that historically had allowed discussion of everything (4chan for instance). Suddenly information emerges that not only was the story being actively suppressed via deletions, bans, etc, but that the various "journalists" involved were personal friends with and/or somehow professionally involved with this individual. This reveal was known as Game Journos Pro, named for the group that got exposed.
Caught with their pants down, and basically being held dead-to-rights on this, Fourteen allegedly-competing publications run the same article, with the same talking points and same sources the same day: That "Gamers" are dead and that the primary purchasers of video games should not be considered an audience despite being the primary consumer of video games. This goes over about as well as an abortion in a Disney movie, and people respond to this by boycotting the websites this horse-shit came from under a hashtag. In response, those involved in said scandal immediately label anyone critical of them misogynists, racists, MRAs, et al, and immediately pretend minority and female opponents to their shit do not exist.
The hashtag is then subjected to the single most insane and heavy-handed PR offensives in the history of the internet, determined to obliterate it outright. The attempt fails, more and more of those associate with the websites and the initial indie dev that started the whole thing go under financially and entire networks of assholes basically trying to fuck with video games in a thousand different ways from censorship to suppression comes to light. Despite one of the most aggressive campaigns ever leveraged in this regard, the Antis ultimately lose the battle of public opinion to a bunch of spergy video gamers, partly because of reality setting in, and partly because they're fucking incompetent.
The "Activist" component of the hashtag ends in September of 2015, becoming a watchdog hashtag thereafter. The hashtag then becomes the perpetual bogeyman of its opposition, who goes on to blame it for absolutely everything, much as it did misogyny, the patriarchy, and MRAs before it. The Autism train has no brakes.

Gamergate's Relevance to the Kiwi Farms:
In addition to the humor Gamergate itself caused (Gamerfruit, the Law and Order SVU episode "Intimidation Game," et al), Gamergate's infamous for dragging so much autism out of so many.
The overpowering majority of them are on the side of Gamergate opposition, with pedophiles, multiple tax frauds, and the most iconic careercow of them all, Brianna Wu, just to name a few. Others are long-time cows we've seen many times before, like Ryulong, Randi Harper, and Peter Coffin, who, for reasons known only to them, decided to get themselves involved in the controversy. Others of note on the Anti front include Sarah Nyberg and the PIDF (Pedophile Internet Defense Force), who, in response to Sarah Nyberg being outed as a Pedophile by Encyclopedia Dramatica, went into complete meltdown mode trying to get evidence of her wrongdoing deleted, blunted, or removed, having ED's twitter removed and multiple attempts made to destroy all records of her wrongdoing. Note that this is after the victim's parents confirmed what was suspected by most. @le0pirat3 did a number of vids on that one. This one's actually relevant because it's pretty much exactly what happened with Alison Rapp's defenders as well.
Pro-GG of course isn't impervious to sperging either, and has a number of cows all its own - Matthew Hopkins, Homer, Ethan Ralph, and of course, Sir Wolfington, who's such a special kind of nuttery that he was able to support multiple threads and had one of the funniest meltdowns outside of his initial thread I've ever witnessed.
Unfortunately, the numbers are completely disproportionate; for every Pro-GG cow actually worth a damn there's about 12 times that many Anti-GG cows, and Pro-GG cows are, as a whole are, as a whole, harder to milk in general. That doesn't mean it's impossible, as we've seen, just that there's less of 'em and you can only get so much out of them this way.
There's a fine line between justifiable alarmism and outright sperging, and it's kind of hard to spot that line when the opposition to Gamergate is the group going before the UN to argue that we should stop "cyberviolence" using evidence that suggests Pokemon will teach your children deadly Nintendo-style killing techniques, or when Gamergate opponents are provably able to get users essentially banned for wrongthink on certain social networks

She is on vacation and if Nintendo wants to do something about it will when she returns as they may want to deal with this as quiet as possible.
I doubt Nintendo is not going to do nothing about it, dunno if she will be fired or not but I really doubt they will not react in any way.

@Spectator represents the Wayne Foundation, which opposes Child Trafficking and Exploitation.
She alerted Nintendo of America that one of its employees was an extremely vocal proponent of lowering ages of consent and had defended a pedophile who had been caught trafficking child porn. The employee in question was Alison Rapp. Nintendo was apparently, by all accounts, completely unaware of this, despite the fact that Rapp bragged about her thesis covering it on her linkedin.
Immediately after this went public, the Anti-GGers went nuclear (Alison Rapp is one of their own, you see) accusing the head of a firm devoted to fighting child trafficking and exploitation of being first bamboozled into it by that wily old Gamergate, then just dropping pretense entirely, calling Spectator a "member of Gamergate" and running a barrage of hate campaigns against her. Special thanks to Patrick Klepek, who essentially went out of his way to use her as a lever against Gamergate (when she clearly didn't have any dog in that fight), and then, when she told him to fuck off, wrote an article vilifying her and accusing her of being a harasser.
Spectator never had anything to do with Gamergate, but the nanosecond Alison Rapp was caught by her own actions, out went the Gamergate accusations. It's exactly what happened to Anne Rice, Richard Dawkins, William Shatner, and many, many others. If you are critical of any of these fucks, you are immediately Gamergate. No exceptions.

Since this thread has had sperging on unrelated shit such as Chrono Trigger along with me and another user being fucking retard neckbeards in a response to a user in this thread, has there been anything new with Alison Rapp in relation to Jamie getting pulled in by violent spastics? Anything such as calling out Jamie or trying to stand her ground in relation to the thesis she written?
She keeps extending her vacation on Twitter, it seems the GamerGate autists are winning the battle against the PIDF on Twitter, and we still haven't heard shit on whether Nintendo is canning her ass.
