Jim Sterling / James "Stephanie" Sterling / James Stanton/Sexton & in memoriam TotalBiscuit (John Bain) - One Gaming Lolcow Thread

I've mentioned before that if Jim has any passion left in him at all his best bet would have been to go the route of either a breadtube-esque proper video essayist in the style of Jacob Geller in particular, or one of those video creators who goes extremely in depth into a particular game or videogame personality, for example Mandalore Gaming or Ahoy (who just released such a video about UFO: Enemy Unknown that is light years ahead of anything that Jim has ever produced in terms of editing, narrative and research).
I'm glad Jacob Geller is a person people actually know about.
See, the thing with Geller is that despite being super ultra Jewish and liberal, he manages to actually exercise something called self control and moderation.

Meanwhile, could you imagine Jim doing a video featuring extended discussion of actual historical Nazis, without once stopping the video to talk down to his audience and reassure everyone how super duper bad and morally inferior he thinks Nazis are?

Jim has become so poisoned and regressed by his unhealthy relationship with the internet and media that I don't think he's capable of connecting with average people anymore. Just look at the fucking clown. Look at him.
He's like Noah Antwiler, just like some people can't control themselves when they drink, some people can't control themselves when they have access to Twitter and w/e else.

Again using Geller as an example, half the time when he discusses games it's as a vehicle to discuss some wider topic, or he's discussing some other thing and brings it back to games, in general it's clear that he views games as a more holistic pursuit.
What else does Jim even have thoughts or opinions on? He's so desensitized that unless something is trendy or fetishistic he doesn't want to be bothered.

This isn't a matter of Jim just being able to pivot, his content is a reflection of the fact he's chosen to give up his humanity and become a transhumanist bugman. He could gain back some of that humanity, but that would mean abstinence from things like social media, and he doesn't have the self control for that.

Simon at least seems to take his wrestling career seriously though, rather than an excuse to play out his woman beating fetish, and has the physique of a wrestler rather than Mr Blobby.
Yeah I'm not dogging on Simon at all, I just know he and Jim are friendly from back when Simon worked at VideoGamer UK, so he's maybe the one credible voice in independent wrestling Jim could get ahold of.

Its almost insulting to see Ahoy compared to Jim
Definitely. However it's insulting to Jim to contrast him with Ahoy.
A little late, but Jim transitioning (lol) into doing more long-form videos would actually be quite interesting. I'd probably watch it, I might even like it if it's any good. I mean, Hbomberguy manages it. He's borderline insufferable and fills his videos with a lot of stuff we probably wouldn't agree upon in real life, but he's also genuinely funny and quite insightful in places so it makes it watchable for me. His Human Revolution video in particular was pretty great.
That said, the amount of time and effort Jim would have to devote to something like that makes it an absolute impossibility. I just don't think he has it in him to bother to go into detail about anything, which is why everything he puts out is so surface-level and superficial - In fact, "superficial" is probably the one word I would use to describe both him and his views and content. Either that or "lazy", but there's a lot of crossover.

If you make shorter videos that just graze or cherrypick a subject, you need to have a unique perspective or style in order to pull that off. Think Ssethtzeentach for example. Whereas the only thing Jim has in that regard is that he's a tranny and he hates you; and I'm sorry, Jim, but that kind of persona is ten a penny on the internet.

I gotta give Jim some credit, he managed to do it two days after YoungYea did, but then I gotta take it away when he put the game his video would be related to as the first Bayonetta and not the one people are wanting to buy.
Now that it was revealed the VA lied about her pay (it was 4 times as high), will Jim make an official retraction and apology if he insulted any entity based on fake info?

Another review from Jim thats a lot better than his last one as his criticism seems to line up with what I've been hearing about the game, though he rage quit the game over his own dumb mistake and blames the game for it which is kinda funny.

"Don't expect from me to do actually any investigation, I'll just say that nobody knows and double down on my demands that are completely economically impractical, and would more likely have the studios use AI voice than pay royalties for a person who've done 0.1% of the amount of work the coders and artists did because THat'S HiS VoiCE I'm HeaRing".

In my opinion voice actors are getting paid too much. Have any of them ever seen how dogshit the delivery is on lines these days? Half of them struggle to display emotion and put emphasis on the wrong words and people think that's amazing work.
I'd prefer voice actors who aren't super popular (but can make their lines work) than voice actors with a large catalogue. The larger the voice acting career, the bigger the autism they might be hiding from.

I think part of the reason people like Jim makes a big deal for professions like this is you really need to be from a fairly wealthy family, preferably with connections to succeed and get roles and an elephant in the room with progressives like Jim is they do not care about poor people from working class backgrounds.

I'm not so sure about it, since voice acting is usually seen as something failed actors do, and voice acting in a game is even below that, only slightly more dignified than smut. Though that might have changed with the cultural infantilism, with more """adult""" animated shows.
With Jim it's more capitalism bad (nevermind that Platinum is more of AA studio) and him seething from being a nobody in the gaming industry.

The problem with big name VA in the gaming industry is that the retards at the gaming companies ask them to do the same voice the previous retards asked for (Which is usually just their regular voice) - So they just sound the same all the time. And because they are in everything suddenly all video game characters sound the same

Early in his career Troy Baker did roles where you would legit not recognize him. But now when you hear Troy Baker in a video game you can identify him before he even speaks a single line.

Wow two reviews back and a 3 and a 2. God what a bubbly ray of sunshine

Wow. He missed the entire point so hard.

She's not being lowballed. She didn't get that offer (even the better paying one that was later revealed) because the studio thinks she's not worth much. Anyone who has worked with actual Japanese people can see this for what it is: She's getting replaced. Japan doesn't fire people though, that's dishonrouabu, so they give people these kinds of offers and expect them to understand the subtle clues.

Like Matt Mercer. Dude's a pretty good VA but he does the same voice in everything I hear him in these days.
