Overwatch

OW2 didn't ask ME for my phone number (I guess because I had an account prior to OW2) so good start. However, that phone restriction should not have been considered. Especially since it's blocking post-paid plans, which more people have than Blizzard thinks.

There's an account merge queue if you haven't done so already. That took several minutes and a reset to transfer. So far, I have not disconnected or sent back to queue.

The default control scheme is messing with my muscle memory with support heroes. Healing abilities are on RT by default; that's not good since you're used to shooting with RT. Moira and Kiroto suffer with this. Moira's healing hand is on the left; why isn't it LT by default?

and then you have ones like Wrecking Ball and Doomfist where picking them is practically throwing the game.
Doomfist fits better as a tank. But, I swear his only buff was with his health. His seismic punch feels weaker than before. Oh, and he suffers with the same control issue as Moira. His punch hand is on the right, why is it LT?

The tanks right now are so unbalanced it's not even funny. You have ones like Zarya and D.Va who are unstoppable killing machines with insane pick rates, and then you have ones like Wrecking Ball and Doomfist where picking them is practically throwing the game. Oh, and Blizzard has said they're not doing any balance changes until the end of the current season, so enjoy having to deal with this mess until then.
The head of development said they're looking at a mid season adjustment patch, with Zarya being mentioned.

Phone requirement removed for OW1 players, so restricted to new players. Didn't keep me from running into a smurfing widow who's using MNK on console in Competitive.

I know the saying "less is more," but OW2 went too far with that philosophy.

No cards, no "on fire" indicator, less maps, no PvE, neutered progression, no handy hero tutorial. In OW1, you could preview your hero's abilities by checking the scoreboard. You cannot do that anymore; you can only do that in the hero spawn room. Good luck learning new heroes efficiently.

Blizzard is taking a page from R6: Siege in the wrong way. You have to max out the battle pass to unlock a hero whereas before, all heroes would be granted from the start. The shop even looks like a colorful R6: Siege shop.

Edit: I've unlocked an achievement. I was not booted out of the game. Maybe they patched it or I got lucky?

What I find funny is that all the heroes will say their "I'm on fire!" Voice lines of you do good in a team fight or whatnot. And they patched the achievement kicks.

Looks like now you need 7 wins to get ranked in Competitive, not 7 matches, 7 actual wins lol
Your rank in competitive changes every 7 wins or 20 draws/losses. So instead of fixing the broken competitive ranking system which punished people when their teammates ragequit two minutes into the match because their Symmetra was hard countered by literally every other character, they just made wins three times more valuable than losses.

Sounds good to me. Maybe I'd actually get an edge with the ranking.

I don't know if I'm just having bad luck or the game just became imbalanced because there's a greater mix of people who never stopped playing with a smaller pool of newbs or people who quit early on in the game's life. I'd say at least 70% of my games, it's obvious one team is far more familiar with how shit works compared to the other, and the only time a game goes down to the wire; it's because both teams are so fucking incompetent the game eventually calls a winner. But it feels like it's back in 2016 with the amount of do nothing Genji and Hanzos I'm seeing, the Lucio's who won't turn their HP aura on, and an overall meekness in groups who don't want to be aggressive and push, even on a payload mission that needs to move or if someone uses their ult and breaks the enemy line... no one fucking pushes.

End of the day, the community is just about the same. Slapping a 2 on it won't suddenly bring brighter players to the game. Majority of the people who play this game are playing for themselves and nobody else.

sounds like any multiplayer game of the last decade tbh.

Speaking as a shitter at the game, I'm most pissed off at the balance of it. Games are stomps 100% of the time, and the only difference is which side of it you're on.

Every game I've played has either been my team is a well oiled machine and literally never dies, or a 1v5 where I as a healer have the most DPS, more heals than all other healers, and my tank is hiding half a map away from the point, a DPS is off at enemy spawn, and the other DPS is dead.
The invisible hand of matchmaking inevitably makes sure your win rate remains at 50/50. I don't enjoy victories because I know I'll have odds set against me later. This and matchups make or kill the game

Not to sound like Reddit, but in my several games, nobody wants to push the payload.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but tanks are supposed to advance the team. Orisa's new kit allows her to gain ground but ultimately, she's hard countered by Sombra, Reaper or even another Orisa. Through six hours of Comp experience, maining Orisa means you'd need full support from healers to turn the tides.

My impression of the OW2 meta is that tanks are meant to disrupt and draw fire. The days of two tanks with shields up slowly walking towards the payload are long over.
I must be playing Orisa improperly. (Of course, I'm trying to climb out of Bronze solely using her, so YMMV) As Orisa, I use my abilities to push back the enemy team if possible. I've experienced stalemates with Orisas through their supportive healers. I had moments where Sigma and/or Sombra would stop me in my tracks through damage outputs.

Disrupt TO allow your team to advance or hold ground.

I've been having games where if I'm a tank (D.Va), support doesn't want to follow me. It's not always their fault, because D.Va is the most mobile tank, and I will chase down characters who think being high will keep them safe. I know there are pro Mercy players who will go with you, I just don't get them on my team.

When I support (usually Brigette) tanks don't want to push, and I find myself quasi-tanking because the tank would rather hide. But given my previous comment about support that won't support, I kinda understand.

And when I DPS, even when I land an excellent Blizzard as Mei and get their whole team... They're still hiding behind geometry and taking pot shots instead of moving in to clean house.

Mother-fuckers, this is a shooting game. Live up to the 90's scare of being a violent shooter and get aggressive.

I propose we name this thread Overwatch Venting Thread.

@Kheapathic what are you playing? QP, Comp? What platform?

All but I (Orisa) would be the only one on the point for a time. Supports would try to funnel onto me, a few times, they would try to balance it out. Push seems to be make or break for tanks and support.

Don't need it to be a venting thread; was just promised there'd be new modes and shit, when their isn't. We're also halfway through October and no Junkenstein yet. Three new characters and a battle pass system isn't sufficient to make this a 2; it's just an update.

Also play on PC and PS4; overall skill level is higher on PC. I don't know if I have bad timing or what, but competitive doesn't seem to exist on PS4.

Edit: But since I'm bitching; what I would've done was take the "Origins" part of the original Overwatch title, and use that as an excuse to branch out into other game genres using the different characters. 76 and others could be FPS, Mei could be a survival/don't starve, they put effort into making all these characters with different backstories and shit, trying to build a legitimate decent world... For them to just run around and shoot each other for ~10 minutes at a time.

Star Craft isn't dead; but it's life cycle is done, it's just on maintain. Create a RTS about the Omnic Uprising or some shit. WoW: Dragonflight comes out in November, launch that, get your first big patch situated, then figure out what you're gonna do about these 35 wackos who spend all day killing each other.

There is no question a larger pool of retards. 80% of kirikos zipping around doing fuck all, DVAs behind healers shooting rabbit pellets at the direction of the objective, Reins charging into oblivion, so many players hanging out for their 2 elim POTG. Main Junkrat since 2016 so I'm ricocheting grenades off walls, nade + mine combo the puny players, laying sneaky traps. You can piss off opponents to the point they forget the objective and obsessively chase you. No role queue is the way to go.

How many losses did you obtain before getting your 7th win?
I cannot remember. It wasn't 20. Wait, so it's not just the 7 wins but how many losses inbetween the wins? Wonderful.

Oh God, Zarya. Massively overpowered. If you shoot at her, her gun charges up. If you don't, the DPS will swarm you. Orisa cannot counter.
