Minecraft

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Worth mentioning that a number of Minecraft-related communities (particularly modding) have gone as far as to collaborate with one another to share ban lists among themselves. As per an announcement from the beginning of August 2022 on the QuiltMC Discord from the lead maintainer, gdude:

Since the announcement was initially posted, the list of servers known/alleged to have been ban-sharing has expanded to include the servers for:
  • Minecraft Forge
  • Modrinth
  • SpongeMC
  • Minecraft Mod Development (MMD)
  • MC Dev Cafe
  • some mod-specific servers (BlameJared, OpenTerrainGen)
  • possibly some others.

They are literally trying to implement the multiplayer ban system that mojang has put in place. If you piss off one server owner or even just a powermod, your discord account will become persona non grata for the entire modded discord community.

Unrelated but I had high hopes for Modrinth, as CurseForge has recently made it exceedingly difficult to use a non Overwolf Minecraft launcher to install their modpacks, but it seems that the troons and their CoC spergery have infested this project too.

Also the official logo for the PolyMC ""replacement"" Prism has been released
PrismLogo.png

In less than 48 hours, the ousted maintainers:
  • Killed the main discord through raids and took complete control of the narrative "PolyMC has been hijacked" which was then changed to "PolyMC is run by raging homophobes who will steal your data"
  • Seized the means of production release for both Flatpak and AUR (and disabled Lenny's AUR account) with
  • Invalidated the API keys, rendering already installed versions of PolyMC non working without a manual fix or update (which now cannot be accessed without building from source)
    • Note the Makedeb package still seems to be in PMC's control so the Debian users are probably fine for now.
  • Created a 2300+ user Discord server
  • Created and voted on a new logo
  • Registered https://prismlauncher.org/ and copied the original PMC website with a few tweaks
  • Pushed 80+ commits to the new github organization and project
    • Note they do not yet have a release version yet
Websites in question:
2022-10-19_Website_Poly.png2022-10-19_Website_Prism.png

From how it looks now, the PolyMC project is most likely dead through the "brain drain" of the developers and the negative opinions spread through major discord servers, prominent Mojang developers announcing the event and media outlets helping push the narrative. Looking forwards to seeing how this pans out in the future as PMC is a pretty good launcher and I do not trust the Prism devs at all.

I didn't manage to archive the reddit before it went private, but I had it up on a browser. Here's the screenshot from around 1500 GMT today.

Lenny is listed as the mod, so take that for what it's worth.
The reddit as back up:
https://www.reddit.com/r/PolyMCLauncher/ (A)

Of note, instructions on key workarounds until the new version is out.
https://www.reddit.com/r/PolyMCLauncher/comments/y81qrb/microsoft_login_or_curseforge_problems/
Copying from the announcement on discord:

The old MSA client ID got deleted by the previous maintainers, if you want to continue using PolyMC until there is an update changing the default Client ID to a new valid one, go into the settings to 'APIs > API Keys > Microsoft Authentication'

And change the option to 6b329578-bfec-42a3-b503-303ab3f2ac96 (or any other valid MSA Client ID).

For Curseforge to work properly you need to go to the same place in the settings but instead of changing "Microsoft Authentication" you need to change the "Curseforge Core API" option to $2a$10$bL4bIL5pUWqfcO7KQtnMReakwtfHbNKh6v1uTpKlzhwoueEJQnPnm

Will be interesting to see the package fallout, particularly on Arch (since I'm going to guess Steam Deck users are a large percentage of users of PolyMC).

Liam Dawe says "he didn't read the article" but he clearly didn't read his comment because he asked for a source (which I'd like to note Liam didn't provide on account of being a faggot).

Shame that GamingOnLinux is owned by a tranny cock sucking manlet.
This isn't even the half of it. He was banning people from the GoL telegram because they didn't have the "right opinions" like he does & threatens people in apologizing or some shit. Dude's a fucking nutter. I'm 90% sure that if this was the 1950's he probably be right along side with a mob that's trying to lynch a black person over something they said.

PolyMC has just now been trying to regain distribution control over on FlatHub, and the issue made to request the control has turned into an absolute fiasco.

Most notably, even Gdude of QuiltMC has decided to chip in in support of the Prism fork.

1666275519944.png

It's also worth noting that the majority of the issues Scrumplex brings up in the issue with regards to broken PolyMC infrastructure were in some cases the direct result of Prism maintainers sabotaging auto-commits and API keys among other things.

This is why you should never do any kind of business with troons. Never talk to troons, never work with troons, never even mention they exist.
Yep. We see horseshit like this happening again and again. Stay away from ALL troons. These people are sick insane fucks who will twist and destroy everything you created. It's not possible to reason with mentally ill, narcisstic degenerates with giant victim complexes.

Let's be abundantly clear here.

Lenny kicked out all maintainers, removed the Code-Of-Conduct, half nuked the discord, citing he was [sic] "reclaim polymc from the leftoids" 1

This entire shitshow started because Lenny, who while being the head maintainer, who did not contribute meaningfully to the project, had a problem with the queers.

Subsequently, the PolyMC discord has been used to spread hate and rhetoric, harass minorities, ban people who show support for trans and queer rights.

The polyMC project was self-destructed by one person's hate. Prism Launcher, which is made up of the former maintainers of PolyMC (sans Lenny), has thrived, while PolyMC has floundered with no direction, competent maintainers, or organisation.

According to a message from lenny in the discord, he's been "planning this for months". and yet somehow he didn't expect this response, or his inability to maintain a project without any of the people actually doing the work?

The assertion that PolyMC hasn't been able to succeed because of harassment is laughable.

The Minecraft modding community is diverse, a lot of the modders I know are trans/queer, and yes, some are plural as well. hell, I know that several of the former contributors of PolyMC fall into this category as well.

To kick out everyone from the project and start spewing hateful rhetoric spits in the face of everyone who worked on and supported this project and in the faces of the Minecraft modders who work on the frameworks and mods that this tool uses and supports.

If Flathub returns this package to the new maintainers and team of PolyMC they will be indirectly supporting and enabling this hate.

There is no room in the Minecraft community for transphobia and queerphobia. You have no one but yourselves to blame for the response.

Signed, Violet, and the rest of the &foxes system.

P.S. it looks like PolyMC no longer wishes to push for this change, however, I still wish to share my summary of this to try and combat the myriad of aspersions spread by the PolyMC team.

:story: Of course this is a fucking "plural" faggot who wrote this screed.

At this point I doubt Flathub will have the spine to do what's right, the trannies have made it abundantly clear they will smear Flathub as some sort of alt-right hate machine if they give control back to PolyMC maintainers.

The macinations of the power loving troon squad are truly evil and they have infected open source software in general and the highest levels of minecraft development, both official and unofficial.

It is incredible to see how fast the other devs completely took control of the narrative and how tight of a grip they have on the situation, as it is now at a point where going against the Prism devs or even supporting PolyMC through the smear campaign would be against the sacred commandment of:
"There is no room in the minecraft community for transphobia and queerphobia" - 0xf24

On an unrelated note a few months ago when Mojang implemented chat signing and entire account bans I saw the writing on the wall and looked into (hopefully open source) alternatives to Minecraft. None really stood out apart from MineTest, which is open source and built from the ground up in C++, with a modding API and self hosted mod database run by the Devs.

Github commits and members of the organization at the time looked ok but the base game lacks a LOT of polish, key features and worst of all the modding API is in LUA. The devs approach seems to be that the base game should be empty and every "feature" such as hunger, mobs, redstone and dimensions should be a separate mod.

Quote from the devs:
Note: Minetest Game does not want to be an exact clone of Minecraft, but it is still influenced by it. Minetest Game is more meant as a “modding base”, and intentionally doesn't have much gameplay. If you expect a faithful Minecraft clone, you will be very disappointed by Minetest Game - but remember that Minetest Game is only one of many games for Minetest.

If you squint it looks like MC on a surface level. The game uses complely new textures for blocks and items so they do not get sued into oblivion by Mojang, but there are some mods and texture packs that add in vanilla MC textures and items (MineClone 2 or MineClone 5).

But if you look any closer it is just atrocious. Mods can fix some of the issues

Anyone here ever tried it before or have more expertise on it's development?

I'm not experienced with it's development but I play on a few servers. Minetest isn't meant as an alternative to Minecraft, but rather an engine of it's own. They don't want to make it a copycat of Minecraft, but rather a stepping stone to making a gamemode in a similar environment. They provide a very basic beginning gamemode that's Minecraft-ish as an example.

Right, I almost forgot that troon hysteria has gotten so absurd to the point where you're deemed transphobic and need to be deplatformed if you're in shouting distance of another transphobe even if you aren't transphobic.
I just want to go one day without hearing about the fucking trannies ruining good things. I hate trannies so much.

there is a few general issues with minetest. for one thing its toolkit for making UI is very lacking. Not that minecraft's is ideal but at least it has a few nice issues like shift click or i believe you can left and rightclick while holding an item to autospread it either either in a way where it uses the materials evenly or in a way that it allows you to quick craft.
In addition to that there is also the issue of bad contols for desktop/mobile (not that you should play minecraft on mobile)
and the fact that it seems the physics are kinda "simple"(?) My jumps feel more reliable on minecraft.

I'm still shocked at how many things they manage to ruin. What makes it even better is when they spam death threats at anything they don't like, and still call themselves the "accepting and non bigoted people".

Does anyone else feel mods aren't as good as they used to be?

It may just be a facet of growing up, but I remember installing stuff like Flan's Mod, the original Aether, Twilight Forest, the Creeper mod that added stuff like cookie creepers, the natural disaster mod that added tornados and meteors, More Creeps & Weirdos and being amused for literally days. Then more time passed and we got stuff like The Erebus, Atum, The Betweenlands etc. and they were awesome too, but felt more "regulated", for lack of a better word.

For years, tech mods were hopelessly lodged in complexities stacked within complexities that made them incompatible with each other (unless you downloaded a bunch of messy energy converters). And unless you used Immersive Engineering, none of them really fit the style of the game. Create finally blew the whole thing open by outdoing all of them, and is absolutely stunning, but I cannot see myself using it for anything more than simple machines and trains.

But now, mods are more tame than they used to be. Discounting the insufferable troonshit a lot of them have (along with their troon devs and cryptotroons like Greg and Vazkii), you don't find stuff that really changes the game anymore. All of it is designed to fit with each other (except for the mods that have some variant of cherry/sakura trees). Mowzie's Mobs is perhaps similar to More Creeps and Weirdos, but there isn't really anything that captures the imagination anymore.
