I've said this before but she waffles constantly over whether or not her writing should be taken seriously. It makes this chain of asks incredibly frustrating for people like me and Emmens who try and figure out what she's trying to do with her writing.
What she's trying to do is get blind praise for minimal effort. She wants to be taken seriously by her fans, but when detractors try to take her seriously then lol it's a joke guys I'm just doing this for fun.
And honestly that would be fine, but as you said--
That whole chain of responses she has this air of coyness that gets under my skin. These asks are telling her that what she's written is shallow, bad, wish fulfillment, and her response is "so what, I had fun writing it".
Then she turns around and makes a video where she holds up an awful character like Aliana as a moral paragon compared to other media.
If Lily were legitimately just having fun I can respect that. You keep to your little corner of the Internet and you post for your fans and you don't take criticism too seriously because that's not the point. There are certainly people out there who set up in a little corner of the internet for themselves and their friends and they aren't bothering anybody.
It's that she also turns around and insists that her morals are always perfect (in this hermetically sealed environment that she's in charge of), that Lily herself is a great writer, that she's better than the original material, that the people who disagree with her only do so because they're Nazi bigots...
Either your work is meant to be a dissection of the fatalism in the Star Wars universe and explore the meaning of legacy and power or uwu soft lesbian romance where the super-hot OC and Rey go beat up all the ugly bad guys and then make out.
