Yes, with KF down the internet is a lot less enticing. There is nothing for me on Twitter or Facebook or Reddit or other de facto establishment propaganda outlets. This forum is something a bit special. Even if you don't interface with the lolcow stuff, the userbase and management here make it a pleasure to use for any kind of mundane/normal internet forum interactions - like the multimedia, internet, etc. sections. Truly, this is what all internet forums should aspire to in that respect. But, that's hard to come by anymore, and maybe in the future will not even be allowed.

If KF allowed to be destroyed by such vile actors, the free internet dies with it. That's not even hyperbolic, it's that dire imo.

I feel like the Internet is an old friend I am watching die in real time

This line really hit home for me. I recently watched the Pam and Tommy Lee docudrama on Hulu. The beginning of the mainstream internet is a central part of that story and it made me nostalgic for the “old” internet. I think that is why I like KF so much. There used to be thousands of sites where people just talked about stuff they were passionate about. With KF being down, I revisited some of the sites I used to frequent back in the day. Even if they were still up, most hadn’t been updated in years. And in most cases, they seem to have a very similar history. Site is started by someone or a group of someone who are passionate about a topic. People join the site and start having great discussions about that topic, and everything else in life as well. Site gains some sort of success and gets noticed by big businesses. One said big business buys the site and says that nothing will change. Within a year everything changes and suddenly the site is no longer making money and they have no idea why. It surely wasn’t the changes that were made. After another year or two, the big business announces that they have to close the site because it isn’t making any money. Most of the time they don’t out and out say it is because of the users, but it usually is implied. If the users are lucky, the big business will leave the site up. Other times it is just taken down. And unless there is someone like me, actively looking for the remains of the site, it will be forgotten.

This site is the only place left where you can actually have a good laugh and express a raw sense of humor which is just flat out forbidden everywhere else.
Everywhere else is gay, artificial and constantly political. Even websites like Youtube is now a finely curated sloppy paste of inane shit that appeals to the lowest common denominator, a place where you used to be able to see some genuinely creative or funny shit. Nowadays, outside of the express intent of laughing at retards, it's either endless tiktok tier nonsense churned out by third worlders like a factory (it's insanely profitable for them so I really don't blame them), highly political yet corporately approved bullshit which is made for people who haven't had a genuine thought in their lives, or mainstream celebs trying to fork their way into social media, trying but failing to mimick real human speech and emotion. And none of it is genuine, it's all artificial.

Much like the rest of the Internet at large, they're trying to make it akin to the regular boomer box TV, everything approved and, upon that, once you've been on the Internet, the real Internet long enough, you look back at what is considered mainstream and "proper" to enjoy, and it just doesn't hit you right, not even the stuff that's trying to go out of its way to be edgy humor or whatever the fuck, because not only will they cross any lines, the Internet and all the retards that occupy it is a unique thing that simply cannot be replicated. It's dying in front of us all, and whatever freedom that came with it will be snatched away like so.

And to salt the wound, nay, to pour battery acid all over it, it's all dying at the behest of mentally ill freaks who are spiteful in a seriously mad sort of way which in an ironic twist has them accusing this place of all the things they are responsible for doing and more.

What they fail to realize (or rather, what they secretly know will happen but they simply don't care) is that it drives a big gaping hole in the Internet, something we will see the consequences of for a long time. They're either useful idiots allowing this sheer corruption to take place more opaquely than ever, or they're simply in on it and seek to profit from it in some way.

I think Null's whole "smaller lowercase-i internets" theory is pretty much how it's going to go down in the future, it makes sense that the consequences will be seen for a long time, and I await the first bunch of articles kvetching about how some shithole country used similar methods to take humanitarian websites down, or one praising how the EU finally came through with an act requiring all Capital-I Internet traffic to be tied to your real life ID, or how Britain literally requires a license to access anything that's not school or work networks. Fun times ahead bros! And a generation will come that will see this as the norm, and they'll be told that the 'Wild West' Internet was horrible, hateful and not progressive, and they'll be hard pressed indeed to find anything that showcases otherwise, other than weird tales from their parents that never really listened while they had the chance.

It sounds like a nightmare scenario, and I genuinely wish it doesn't come to pass, but practically speaking I can see it totally happening. I may be just parroting what we all know and feel here, but it's worth stating... We'll fight, and we'll fight like hell and Null is one man with the brass balls required to face this shitstorm, he's proven that they can't just yeet something offline yet, and until they truly do, we will keep on sneeding!

Kiwifarms is the last place that's actually funny... Humor is subjective? Okay, then it's the last site that truly showcases the Internet and people, warts and all, a circus that never stops, where all the acts are real people, and the peanuts are infinite. And those in the audience are the most real niggas out there, because we all know how to have a laugh. You cannot get this unique and raw entertainment anywhere else. And we'll always be around, lurking, laughing in secret, and, if it becomes illegal to laugh, then we will be criminals. We won't just go away if the site goes down, I don't think those that rally against this site really understand that... Like the china doll clowns collecting dust on the top of your mother's closet, we'll always be there, even though time wears us down, and our voice stolen from us.

All a bit dramatic for a gossip site, but fuck you I can say what I want, imagine that? A place where you can say what you want.

And in the event that the site simply cannot be suffered to remain up any longer... I will say this for the record, for the archive, for little Jimmy in 2035 to read.

I'm not political by nature, because it's cringe, been there, done that... But I am truly opinionated on this one thing.
