General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Moldy Pipkin Theater 1000

Gura's recent similar stream with Night of the Living Dead was good. Unfortunately, I remember The Amazing Mr. X dragging a lot.
It is dragging in some places but that twist reveal was something else. Overall it's very comfy
You'll never get to meet Lia whilst dressed as Mickey Mouse...

His job is just to punch Mike in the back of the head when she starts having ideas

A good reminder to also bring up a recent controversy involving that group.

So according to YouTube's Streamy Awards, the only vtubers that matter are CodeMiko and four others who are in the same group as each other....

Remind me, do they actually stream on YouTube? There's a whole load of names that deserved to be nominated, rather than them.

Zentreya later backed out over being nominated, due to the uproar over the awards itself.

Connor stepped in after a lot of people used the announcement to crap on vshojo, and accuse them of working with the Streamy awards to deny worthy streamers an award.

Despite it being free to enter and not one of those "pay to win" awards, the organisers didn't bother reaching out to vtubers and their agencies if they wanted to participate.
i mean award shows are kind of cringe anyway and dont really matter. imo it would be more embarrassing to participate in a streaming award and treat it like a big deal. especially when you have to pay to enter. its dumb.

i feel like the whole point of the streaming phenomenon is basically the democratization of fame, that's especially the case with vtubing. putting people on pedestal through awards that sets artificial benchmarks kind of defeats the purpose of that.

Hello, hello, I haven't checked on any VTubers news for weeks, what did I miss Kiwichamas?

Also, I didn't know if someone haven't shared it here, but Miyu Ottavia of (formerly) NijiID announced her retirement, making her the first Indonesian talent of the Big Two to graduate. Words are, that on her member stream, she cited two reasons for her graduation:
1. She's at odds with Anycolor
2. Still upset that the NijiID got shutdown and merged
The rumour now is that a lot of the (formerly) NijiID talents are still upset with that move and disgruntled with their lack of support and opportunities to grow

Does anyone respect the Streamys? The only people ive seen give a shit about it are normie youtubers who got nominated and their fanbases, it is bad optics to have all but 1 be from the same company, seems like they should have thrown at least 1 indie tuber in there but i doubt vshojo reached out to the streamys.

Mousey revealed new outfit. And SHEEESH, that looks wondrous.

Missed the full reveal since it was almost over when I got home but here’s some screencaps I saw

Since no one has (surprisingly) said this already, Miyu Ottavia will be graduating this month on Sunday, November 27th. I suspect (if I'm remembering things correctly) that it's a result of her completing her business degree and wanting to move on with the next stage in her life. This will make her the first ex-ID to graduate, a branch that has honestly surprised me with how resilient its members are.

Also, glad the site is back (again). The only place to have a level-headed discussion of vtubers that also allows past-life discussion (without said discussion being the dominant topic).
Was going to post it but sleep catches me and when I wake up, you and Rezza already mentioned it (so does someone else on the backup vtuber asylum site that some folks here used when Kiwi is being ded). Is a bit sad though, since they really able to stick through for like, 3 years + being merged and also with somewhat abysmal numbers and viewerships. I can understand that she wanted to move on, but is still a bit sad.

I also heard that she basically choosing supporting family over vtuber career as well, but it's not sure answer unless I can find someone who are more than willing to share what they hear on her member stream. That said, it is kind of understandable if they are still disgruntled with the merge, considering it took until recently till some of the NijiID is starting to get support (Siska's official merch, NijiFes core attendance, Hana 3D, etc)

Speaking of Indonesian, I went to local con, and I can't tell you enough how much people here loves HoloID especially Kobo. Basically every weebs know Kobo and can sing her song

I also found a lot of fanmade merchs for Holo and Niji there, yet I can't find any NijiID ones at all. It's mostly just Holo Production, HoloID, or NijiEN (Luxiem)

Lmao must be that time of year again. Idk zentreya is perpetually depressed so that could just be normal for them. Silvervale is classic menhera though so there must be some drama bubbling under the surface.

I just gotta say though it's kinda funny and sad to me that Silver gets so pouty over all this shit while Melody just keeps chugging despite having to deal with being surpassed by people she technically gave a platform to. Zentreya and Nyanners were the only regular 3views out of that group until Melody came along, and while I don't think anyone would contest that ironmouse and Silver were both doing it longer than her, both of them got a huge boost in their numbers just from being around Melody and enough of her coomer audience watching them as well.

ironmouse for her part has remained fairly consistent the only real shift I've seen in her is she has shifted more from a community "member" to being an entertainer, which is understandable when she's streaming for several thousand people per stream as opposed to chatting with 100 or less.

Silver has always kinda seemed like she feels she should be one of "the faces" of it all and I think that's led to some jealousy toward the others in her group. It's been that way since some of them started getting partnered on twitch before her.
Who knows, maybe I'm reading too much into it and it's just something different entirely, but if I had to guess I'd say silver is pissed she doesn't get the same notoriety as mouse or the whales that NotRushia has.

It's a bit hard to try finding NijiID ones unless you knew specifically that someone is gonna cosplay as them. On Comic Frontier 15 alone there's some NijiID cosplays and some booths catering to NijiID fan-merch. I even saw someone cosplaying as the NijiID staff-san (no photo though)

It really depends on the con location itself, since I have this belief that most of NijiID fans are concentrated on Jakarta-based conventions and its a bit more harder to find them outside of that city alone (not saying it doesn't exist, but far more smaller in scale).
