Did a traceroute, and Comcast/Xfinity runs several internal connections to its own network before preventing the outbound from the "ibone" which is their backbone.
Okay, testing it with other sites, Charter seems to be dropping KF 100% of the time somewhere in the middle of NY as well, while other traffic goes through. That has to be intentional, right? But it's essentially the ISP for me, all looks like it's owned by them.
SHIT THEN OF COURSE this is all over my head, but this past week was reading about the inadequacies of BPG and how
EXPLOITABLE it was, "accidental" things like Pakistan trying to block YT and instead taking YT itself off-line by redirecting YT's traffic to fucking Pakistan (making "mistakes" in your routing tables or w/e which you can then propagate across the planet), or China similarly doing that with most of the US government's traffic for a bit... these attacks could be done by one person working in the right datacenter or whatever, AFAIK... then write it off as a "mistake".

if it's one of those routing attacks, someone tracerouting Kiwifarms who knows it better should be able to figure out if it's directing you somewhere it shouldn't be directing you, because I think it would be glaringly obvious to any sort of expert if that was happening... which means if it was one of those routing attacks someone shoulda figured it out by now. But I really dunno ?! heh
Either way, crazy to think a Pakistani ISP trying to block Youtube could make an "oops" and just take the whole fucking site down by directing
everyone else's YT traffic to Pakistan. Internet infrastructure is fucked by its nature.
