That's the thing - a verification system should've always just been a way to verify that you are who you say you are or that your business account is legit. It should've always been open to Joe Schmoe in Mississippi or Sue Ann's Bakery in Alaska as long as they were willing to prove who they were; I'm unsure how Musk's system will work to verify these beyond paying $8 per month, but it's a step in the right direction to achieving that.

When I've seen the blue check marks talk about how "verification symbol will be useless now" it's obvious that they see themselves as a higher caste, the chosen ones and those without it are mere plebs (all while larping communists). If some of them paid $15 000 for it, then yikes. No wonder they're big mad. Not only is it money down the drain, but they just have to settle that even Joe Schmoe and Sue Ann can get it for an affordable price now.

Journoscum really can't handle it when the proles talk back. They gave the game away a long time ago when they started getting rid of comment sections on all their individual websites. For awhile they mostly switched to Disqus, who probably thought they'd hit the jackpot since everybody was seemingly outsourcing their comment sections to them, but then people just started integrating Facebook discussions (such as they were) because it was easier to ban people from the centralized "global" discussion via Facebook. Then they finally just got rid of comments entirely.

Everybody remember the white-hot rage they all sprayed when Gab introduced that extension to link any URL to a Gab-hosted comment thread so people could discuss articles even without author permission? Their rage was such that they pushed Google, Mozilla and Apple to delist the extension from their store pages, and if memory serves this was also the point where they started going after Gab hard to get its apps blacklisted and kicked off the stores.

The fuckers absolutely loathe being criticized. They especially hate it when they can't claw back with a ban hammer. Having to actually stand by their words and defend themselves is beyond their abilities. This is a perfect example of it in action -- when there's nobody to run crying to for "administrative relief," they run right back to their hugboxes. As much as this faggot claims to hate Twitter (despite undoubtedly using it for years and remaining confident that things will stay essentially the same even after Musk's purchase), he ran straight back there once he realized he can't just instantly have people banned when they hurt his feelings.

I look back on the newspapers of the 80's and 90's and how they actually used to publish "letters to the editor," and sometimes even critical ones. I know they had no more integrity in general back then than they do now, but at least they bothered with a pretense of fostering two-way discussion back then.

On a side note, it still tickles me that the average jew feigns such deep injury whenever someone calls them a jew (or a slur) or posts a picture of Hitler.
