Tony wants kids and their parents to be terrified. Well we've already got surgeons catering to extreme body modification, like amputating healthy limbs for those for whom it's a sexual fetish. See for instance the case of British doctor Russell Reid, who studied under John Money. (Still Tish blog post, Still Tish thread, Malcolm Clark thread) It's the same "consumer model" of healthcare embodied in WPATH's "Standards of Care", the customer is always right etc. (The Gender: A Wider Lens podcast recently did an interesting episode on how mental the WPATH document is: podcast page, archive; tweet, archive.)

In Bongland one facet of the Tavistock GIDS scandal was that they did not bother with patient follow-up, either when "transgender" children graduated to the adult service or just "dropped out". In the US, Jack Turban discounts detransition as a phenomenon, arguing from the results of the 2015 US Transgender Survey (which was designed to exclude detransitioners: twitter.com, archive.ph).

My feeling is that Tony says "detransition statistics are often overinflated" not because there actually exist any shockingly high statistics for detransition, but rather that we are seeing more and more people publicly detransition and he wants to paint this anecdotal evidence as being unrepresentative.

Lastly Tony says that detransitioners "deserve all of our love and support" but those who "weaponise them" should be "ashamed". But as we've seen recently with the detransitioners testifying in Florida, for Tony those who speak publicly about their detransition are tautologically "political detransitioners".

Anyway, turning to Cari Schevers / Ky Schevers, who is the "retransitioner" in the story Tony cites (lgbtqnation.com, archive.ph), they've made a few appearances here on the farms. Relevant comments:
