It's a fairly typical example of the VC funded churn that you get in the tech sector. Someone has a bright idea, one that is often similar to an existing product but with extra special sauce on top. They get a few rounds of VC funding, on the gamble that they'll stick around long enough to either get market share, or get bought out by one of the big players for lots of cash. More often than not they end up as a quasi-legal ponzi scheme, with the initial investors extracting value from subsequent investor groups, then departing at a calculated point before the company collapses. The remaining investors end up fighting over the assets and IP rights and any remains then get bought up by an IP repackager, either for patent trolling or resale to one of the aformentioned big players.

There was several mile long posts on reddit about people complaining about this. They were legitimately upset, some men in their 30s, that someone pressed the down button on the D-Pad in a video game they were playing. They even mentioned this service, I thought it was a troll.
