Lily likes the setting that fantasy worlds provide (the magic systems, the seemingly idyllic lifestyle many residents seem to lead, LGBTQ friendly, etc.) but doesn't want to do anything in those worlds besides live out a power fantasy where she has a support system who supports her unconditionally and a gf who is superglued to her ass at all times and every conflict can either be resolved with her vast wealth or incredible superpowers and hyper-competence. Despite loving sitcoms and slice-of-life she never really ventures into making many stories about just...normal people living a normal life. Like, I think she had a modern AU for her Val'kyr characters but I don't think it's ever went anywhere besides a snippet about how a character wanted to fuck their mom and the mom was told to stop being so fuckable. There's always gotta be monsters or magic or empires, otherwise she gets bored. She likes fantasy as a set dressing for mundanity.

I think part of the 'No matter how mundane, her character always has to be the most powerful' allure falls back on her need for there to be no actual conflict for her slice-of-life events. This way, whatever superficial event she wants to throw into the story, the character has all bases covered for any threat, both emotional or physical.
A lot of anime that isn't 'focused' on the action part, but still technically has it, does a similar thing, where the leads are uber competent bad asses so that any time action interrupts the current story, the focus isn't on whether or not the leads can take on the challenge, but on how their day was interrupted by this challenge. Of course, that's usually because those anime are stories that want to comedically contrast an extreme lifestyle with a normal, mundane life and how the exciting part is treated as normal while the mundane part is treated as high stakes drama. Where as Lilly does it, again, to eliminate all sources of conflict.

The topic switches to the writing tips thread for some reason, which she is still mad about. She is very much still mad about it. Because for once she wasn't the cutting edge renegade, and people openly made fun of her for assuming her very shallow and misinformed opinions were important. She does the same thing she does with her actual writing, and gets annoyed that people took it seriously despite it being labeled as "advice", as in something people should consider when writing. She would go on to prove she was the one still mad about it by writing a different one that was more comedic in tone, so whenever someone would criticize the 100 writing tips, she could say they were taking them too seriously. Same shit different day.
She says other people are dwelling on it but ironically I had actually forgotten about it until I read this post.

If Jerry didn’t want to be mocked, he shouldn’t have done those stupid tips in the first place.
One thing, I’ve learned from my time on social media is that you should be careful about the things you post online.
I really hope Turkey Tom makes a video on Lily Orchard at some point. He mentioned her in the ToonKritic video and knows about that community, so it's probably likely. It's the type of topic that is right up his alley and it would really help expose her to a massive audience.

It's not that she doesn't deserve a long-form video exposé, it's just that I don't trust Turkey Tom of all people to not screw it up, given the fact that he got in trouble for the lies and exaggerations in his video on Pyrocynical... and his video on Spechie... and his video on Mr. Enter... and probably some others I'm missing... not to mention Tom's racism-related controversies on top of all that.

I know that Turkey Tom has screwed up before, but I found his a lot of his videos to be really fair and well researched. I thought that the video he made on ToonKritic and MandoPony was really good. As long as he doesn't screw it up I think it is the best shot of getting a popular and actually good Lily Orchard exposé. Could you imagine what would happen if he showed the evidence for Stockholm to his hundreds of thousands of viewers?
