This is the worst video I've ever watched, and I have seen some of the sex tapes from the idiots we follow here, so the competition is fierce.
This guy is one of the biggest anti-depressants haters I've ever encountered on the internet. I would even say he's probably a Scientologist, but I think even your average schizo scientologist couldn't be this harsh against psychiatric drugs.
He opens his video by saying all the science behind SSRIs is just wrong and that the scientific community considers all of that obscurantism from the past century. Of course, it couldn't be further from the truth, and he knows that. He chose his wording very carefully to deceive the viewer.
The idea behind SSRIs is to diminish the terrible symptoms of depression, and not depression itself. He only clarifies that after a long rambling saying that SSRIs are useless to cure depression and that all the foundation used to create these drugs was based on fraudulent and outdated data. He basically shits on those medicines for minutes on end, and he only shows what the scientific community actually believes after he puts the idea that these drugs are terrible and disgusting in the minds of his viewers. It's beyond dishonest.
But it gets worse. He wants to present his video in a very academic way, so he uses very credible sources like... Reddit posts.
That's right. To confirm his excessive bias against those drugs, he uses random Reddit posts, that could've been written by himself as far as I know. Every time he uses some published paper in his justifications, he never goes deep into the data and sometimes even contradicts himself, like the one graph that shows the placebo and the drug having the same effect (in this case, none) on patients, but just a few seconds before he said the drugs actually worsened the depression symptoms in the group who was treated with SSRIs.
When I thought shit couldn't get worse I was presented with an argument that made me double-take. According to this bastard, the reason why school shootings happen is, and I shit you not, antidepressants!
Seriously, if you don't believe me, just watch the video. I was flabbergasted. How can someone reach this conclusion? I have read many stupid takes on gun violence in my lifetime, but this one takes the cake. Do you know that tranny who shot those kids in the Christian school? That's right, fucking SSRIs. Like, seriously, what's wrong with this motherfucker?
And for a channel with such an edgy name - Dark Science - it's ironically very pozzed . Every mention of sex and suicide is censured in both audio and video. This guy not only did an enormous disservice against depression treatment, but he still finds himself worth getting ad revenue. What a piece of shit of a human being.
Toward the end of the video, he mentions most SSRIs are black boxes in the USA, heavily implying it's considered by the FDA almost as dangerous as cocaine and crack and one step closer to being outright banned. That's obviously not how the system works, but this guy really wants to scare as many people as possible. The wording used is very interesting, he uses every emotional trick to paint a terrible image of psychiatric drugs using what could be considered facts, but surrounded with distressing imagery, delivery, and carefully selected words.
