If Kiwi Farms was a thing in the 1990's, which lolcow threads would be the most active? - Keeping this thing going...

Coast to Coast AM thread. 9/11/97 would garner a lot of traffic.

Can't find the actual call. Some guy calls in talking about Area 51 during an episode. He gets really frantic. Art's sat link dies near the end of it.

All of the net.legends and usenet.kooks would have their own threads. Serdar Argic, Ludwig Plutonium, Alexander Abian, Elf Sternberg, John Grubor, John_-_Winston, Daniel J. Karnes, Roy Radow, so many others. God, I miss those days.
Go on, where were you back then? no need to powerlevel I just like stories from the early web.
I’d say it would be a strange mix of the garish colors of the 80s blending with the grungy look of the alternative scene of the mid 90s like some transition of styles
I remember a ton of ads and websites having this design style, no idea if it has a name

There was also the grungy typewriter font thing that was everywhere in the mid 90's.
Unearthed footage of the chaos from Woodstock 99

I remember seeing that shitshow on MTV back in the day, my parents thought it would be a fun watch since they remember the OG Woodstock.

Then some topless chick with a nice pair of cans shows up on some dude's shoulders as other guys in the crowd grab her tits.
A happenings thread on the Unabomber and his arrest, along with an autistic breaking down of his manifestos.
I wonder if that happened in the usenet, like people asking "alright who here is in that cabin?"
the US would be in a state of civil war by either 2004 or 2008, with a "WACO type event every day" leading up to the outbreak of full on civil conflict. Funny that now even though the political situation is more polarized than ever, and MSM shilling for civil war, we're still nowhere close to daily waco type events
Makes you wonder how reliable today's doomsaying is. I also remember Y2K, randos saying the internet would be "unnavigable" because of viruses by the mid 2000s and the Peak Oil nutcases who said civilization would collapse by 2007 (they are still around and of course move the target every year).
End of the soviet union happening thread, N64/PS1 threads
I can imagine some massive cope when Sega began to take market away from Nintendo, and then more cope when the Saturn began to falter and the N64 was still using carts.

Here's the call.

The guys who burned $700 in 90's dollars for a 3DO.

F in the chat
Whoever burned money getting a Jaguar and a JagCD. F.

Search engine wars thread, who will win? AskJeeves? Yahoo? Google?

Likewise, browser wars thread, complete with freakouts over Microsoft bundling IE with Windows rather than charging for it separately.

Countless usenet and internet lolcows long since lost to time, and ones that would have powerleveled super hard if there was centralized scrutiny on them from here.

I can't remember the name, but there was some weirdo lady who's husband/bf? was a programmer who pulled in lots of money in the dot com bubble, and she was spending it on tons and tons of 90s anime stuff, imported from japan, and there were photos of this massive hoarde. I think there was kinda a weird poly situation there too? She was definitely unemployed and did crazy shit, but I can't remember more. This person was documented and archived somewhat since I wasn't around in those days, so if someone remembers who the hell I'm talking about, please let me know.

I didnt care but then we got screwed sideways with IEs unending shittiness until firefox showed up
I feel attacked. 😭
Well I bought a Saturn in 1996 because I was a die-hard SEGA fanboy, and a little kid but still that was dumb.

I did the same, but at least the Saturn had a lot of good games. Sega was just retarded and didn't release most of the good games in the States, well that & immediately started working on the Dreamcast.

The 3DO at least had the best ports of the time for Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo & (not counting the Neo-Geo) Samurai Shodown. They had a adapter that would let use a SNES controller that made a lot of the games slightly more playable. But yeah... Bad memories of that system... 😢

I hope you didn't pay $700 for it, I would have felt so ripped off. You could get a semi-decent PC at the time for not much more than that.

Judging by the state of the internet back then, the height of comedy would have been laughing at PETA because we didn't know to just ignore them back then.
