Don't blame a tiny portion of the voting pool for not voting your way when all you ever do is castigate them when you should assimilate them.

If Libertarians never vote Republican or Democrat then whose fault is it that the Republicans failed?
The voters who think it’s better to stick with a third party than involve themselves in primaries. They’re the sort to complain there’s only two choices on the ballot after people went through a dozen in the primaries.

If he wanted to, yes. So long as he remains largely a centrist governor and doesn't do anything to piss off Wisconsinites. Largely the best way for him to do that is to rubberstamp whatever the very, very Red legislature wants.
I think a big part of the issue in Wisconsin has been that there haven’t been any super exciting republicans gubernatorial candidates since Walker. To become governor of wisconsin, a republican needs to run up Waukesha, Ozaukee, and Washington counties. They need to be competitive in Milwaukee county (which walker was successful at) and run up their numbers in the more rural parts of the state. I think that if someone like Sean Duffy ran for governor, he would’ve been able to win from all the extra rural support he would get. Michels was a relative unknown and Kleefisch has baggage from the Walker era.

I'm not going to lie, this kind of talk pisses me off. "We lost, but we didn't lose THAT bad, so that's a good thing!" FUCK THAT SHIT. Our democracy is a winner-take-all and not a proportional democracy where votes lead to seats. Hochul is still in office to cause shit and the voter base will forget this "historic close call" in DAYS! Her state admin continues business-as-usual while the general population forgets BS from the past but "OH NO, SHE WON BY A SMALLER MARGIN THAN EXPECTED!". This isn't college football, you have Gov. Hochul in charge, and you should be mad.

Gonna probably be late and point out that this run means that next time the Dem machine in New York will actually have to try. Damage was dealt to the “NY is blue forever!” narrative, money will have to be spent on New York from now on or they lose the state.

With the coordinated attack from Fox, WSJ, and NY Post, I can't help but think the current scenario is exactly what the GOPe wanted. Hype up a big wave, do nothing to earn it or verify it, spend money in ways that makes no sense, let it do very little, then blame Trump even though he is not part of the GOP machine.

It's just amazing how fast they all turned, and then all of Con Inc. with the Daily Wire, Thernovich, also turned.

I think it's mainly because after all the bad shit that's happened since Simple Joe got fortified into the oval office - from inflation, the economy, the Afghan fuck up, to ongoing social issues like the child grooming in school/general tranny insanity, the J6 kangaroo court and the DOJ acting as the DNC's personal gestapo, to the pro-Ukraine chucklefucks clownshowing us into potentially WW3 - people were hoping for a massive repudiation of him, his party, and everything they stood for.
And apparently nobody is willing to get their hands dirty, or dirty enough. I don’t blame them.
@Gehenna do you think in 20 years one of the red letter media guys runs for governor
But why though?

The US isn't some impoverished potatozone shithole. It's the the wealthiest country in the world, the home of the global reserve currency, the hub of consoomer culture, and the world's most powerful military including the world's largest nuclear arsenal. There will be no violent conflict in this country on the scale of Donbass. The conditions for that don't exist here and will almost certainly never exist without a revolutionary shift in the USA's geopolitical situation.
But isn’t that position coming under threat because of Biden? Wasn’t there a thing about the Saudis laughing at Biden in private over his condition and how he begs for oil? Haven’t folks been pointing out shit pops off once countries stop using the dollar as a reserve, some even advocating for that?

Hell, you got folks pulling for Russia against Ukraine because they feel America is using NATO and Ukraine as an attack dog against Vladimir Putin, a man who’s given America and what he feels they stand for the middle finger, without directly doing or saying Uncle Sam’s name, in a scenario straight out 2003. Or 2011.

What’s to say that folks with nothing to lose are willing to go up against the military of “I want to understand white rage, and I’m white” and high heeled marches to understand gender and nuclear capabilities being looked after by what /pol/ would make if you told them make a non-binary person and softer fitness test standards because not enough women pass and NG bending the knee to things like BLM and trying to screw over folks who won’t get a vaccine? For all we know, some could see ways for signs of weakness to be taken advantage of, and all that’s needed is a way to tap into the slowly bubbling fuel and resentment that’s felt and hidden under the facade of basic human decency and “hiding your power level”. When that happens, things will get ugly.

I’m pretty sure that Manhattan flies in the face of that theory. Although the idea of GOP having to stop thinking in moral victories is something I believe has been a thing Trump has harped on.

And then you got others like Jack Posobiec and Ben Garrison saying it’s a plan to divide MAGA, and not to fall for it.

Honestly, people really need to touch grass and go outside. Like my boomer insane mother who won't stop texting like the world is going to end because Republicans didn't win every single election in every single state that had them. Gains are gains. It's going to be an interesting ride nonetheless.

Just gonna say your profile pic at the time of this posting matches the tone of your statement really well.

I think they probably did expect a red-wave, but are just using their failings as an excuse to attack Trump and his voters since it's easier than admitting their usual practice of running on doing nothing in particular may be a failing strategy.

Like I won't be surprised if you see GOPe criticizing Trump over the coming days for not getting a giant brick wall across the entire border, but it won't be because they feel they could accomplish it, it'll be because they see Trump's attempts at actually doing things as just rocking the boat for them.

If the GOP wanted to act competent they'd be proposing things they'd want to accomplish rather than just whine endlessly about wokeness, CRT or lockdowns that have no realistic chance of coming back in our lifetimes. Republican candidates could've been doing one ad after another about Biden lifting Trump's EO about limiting insulin prices for low income patients and how if they got in power they'd be going after big pharma. But that would mean actually doing things when they got in power, something Trump supporters want that the GOP hates.

The GOPe if offended by voters and Trump asking them to act and they're lashing out over it.

That's actually quite plausible. Or they do not know how to market themselves.

What does he mean by saying Democrats are going to "try like the devil"? 🤔
President Joe Biden on Wednesday suggested that he plans to mount a major effort to outlaw broad classes of firearms in the United States just one day after a better-than-expected showing of Democrats in the 2022 midterms.

At a press conference at the White House on Wednesday afternoon, responding to a question from the Associated Press's Zeke Miller about what he "intends to do differently" to persuade more voters to back his various agendas, Biden said: "Nothing. Because they're finding out what we're doing. The more they know about what we're doing, the more support there is."

Biden alluded to the major gun control legislation passed by Congress and signed by him over the summer—one that expanded background checks and toughened restrictions on gun trafficking—and suggested he plans to double down on gun control policies over the next two years.

"There's some things I want to change and add to," he said, referring to what he said was the "rational gun policy" he signed earlier this year.

"But we didn't ban assault weapons," he said. "I'm going to ban assault weapons. We're going to try like the devil."

A ban on "assault weapons" has been a regular goal of Democratic politicians for years, though the measures have often centered around the outlawing of cosmetic feature on common semi-automatic weapons.

Congress in late 1994 passed a federal assault weapons ban that expired after 10 years; analysts largely determined it had little effect on violent crime rates in the United States.

If elections aren't rigged, why are they always, completely, and conveniently won or lost according to a dialectic of constant progress towards shit that makes my life worse?
Serious answer: Our country is under judgement for our unrepentant wickedness and we are getting exactly what we deserve. Its why these things always seem to flow in one overall direction with little to no speedbumps.

Pray for revival with repentance or swift justice on the wicked.

You say that but we need to find out if enough MAGA people got in to stop it. RINOs feel empowered as they crippled the red wave.
If the GOPe were going to cuck on that, they'd have done it already. The House voted for an AWB earlier this year, and not even Liz Cheney or Adam Kinzinger voted for it. And that was well after it was apparent that their careers were boned.
