Again, I am East European, and I have multiple members of my family that have endured through almost the exact same thing Ukrainians are going through today. Some are even still alive.

If I were Amerifat, which thank god I am not, I might think just like you.

Incredibly interesting stuff, great finds Vozhd! One thing that really stuck out to me is NATO's approach has closely followed the strategy outlined in the first article - hitting Russian logistics while staying on the defensive, followed by counteroffensives on the weakened and depleted forces, or alternatively simply forcing Russia to withdraw out of necessity as happened at Kherson. It will keep working until and unless Russia finds a way to stop Ukraine from disrupting its supply lines.

The Potemkin army article made me remember a historical tale from Africa. Ethiopia under the Derg built a powerful military supplied with the best equipment the Soviets could provide their most important ally on the continent, which they used to attempt to suppress the Eritreans in their independence war. However, the low morale of the Ethiopians meant none of it could be used effecively...to this day there are tank graveyards and aircraft boneyards scattered throughout the region as a testament to this.

Another big problem is the 2008 reforms and other efforts didn't address the biggest, fundamental problem with Russian morale - dedovshchina. How can any military hope to be effective with abuses like this? How can any human being condone this evil committed against the men defending your nation? This kind of cultural rot is even more destructive than corruption itself.

She's not wrong and quite honestly I love the attitude...that's somebody who isn't going to take Russia's shit ever again. Either the Russians withdraw and seek an acceptable peace or there is no choice but to keep killing them until they capitulate.
