Encounters With SJWs/Tumblristas Offline or In Unusual Communities

I had a close friend in high school that was really into Earthbound and never stopped talking to me about it. I suppose her and I, for the most part, were decent friends. We lived close by, only being a mere 5 minute drive away and we'd often watch some anime together. Course, she had a tumblr and showed me how 'fun' it was. It was only about two years later that she suddenly desired to go trans male, literally giving no sign of ever wanting to transition. I sincerely doubt even her parents knew what was really going on other then mentioning it was a potential phase. After a few mistaken pronouns and general disagreements on more personal related issues, she sent me a text basically telling me I wasn't good enough to keep in her social circle and hasn't bothered to contact me since.

I did feel a sense of grief, losing someone I had genuinely liked before she got into all that bullshit. I'm pretty sure the blogs she followed was more than enough of an influence to assure a lifetime of regret in the near future.

I've had the misfortune of watching someone I've been friends with for 10+ years become a big SJW. Prior to tumblr he was a completely fun and normal person you could joke around with, but after tumblr he developed an intense white apologist complex, defends shit like neopronouns, and will rage at you if you tell a joke or vent about sex-based bodily functions while using "cissexist language" (because even if you're venting about your own issues, ie: "Man, I hate being a girl because periods. :'c", that sort of language ~alienates transpeople~ and you're cis scum for speaking that way). He has also defended the idea that people should be allowed to say absolutely heinous shit to "majorities" because "lol guys, when someone from a minority is telling you to die, they don't really mean anything harmful, they're just venting! UvU". Though by far the worst thing he's done is give up a decent job, that could have blossomed into a well-paying career, in favor of some dead-end retail job because his old job often forced him to work alongside those icky black-hating police men.

I also had a professor in college who, while not an SJW himself, clearly had many unpleasant encounters with SJW students in the past. It was an American lit class and I believe the dates ranged from Rev War times to the 1980's. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that there are going to be racist/sexist scenarios presented as totally normal in the older literature that existed before women and minorities were given actual rights in the US. You would think that people in a college setting would know enough about American history to know that something written 200+ years ago is going to reflect the often dated societal values of that time, but I guess they often don't, as this poor professor was constantly apologizing for the content of the stories whenever something considered offensive to the SJW crowd showed up. I always felt bad for him because he seemed very nervous about people reacting to that sort of stuff when it showed up, and it always made me wonder what sort of past shit went down in that class before I got there.

It didn't end there

Spoiler alert: still going to the point of annoying the mod staff about it - after being told it was something tied to the software source code and so not readily changed

This one I'm just including because of the idiotic pronouns - "Aro/Ace" sounds pretty stupid if you ask me.

Aro/Ace means aromantic asexual, as in they're not into relationships or sex, or whatever tumblr variant of the term they're using today, I don't think they're meant to be pronouns. Unless I'm reading you wrong in which case ignore me.

Given they say "My orientations are Aro/Ace" I have to infer that they are being used as pronouns. Otherwise, they're saying their orientation is for people who are not into relationships/sex...which entirely nullifies the point of saying they have orientation in the first place.

You'd think that, good sir, but the lack of any romantic or sexual attraction makes up the core of these guys' identity.

You should check out the thread we have on asexuals on Tumblr. It's a pisser.

Ah.

If there's one good thing about all this...it's that the most vocal of these idiots can't reproduce. Otherwise they won't be asexual anymore

Nice of them to partially dox themselves in their giant signature.

I had an experience after a classroom lecture on style and branding our work today. Our tutor had just finished showing us a number of modern illustrators and artists as examples, and when he asked if there were any questions, someone in the back asked why there wasn't as many female artists represented in his slideshow and said it was important to have female representation in everything. Keep in mind that it was actually quite an even split between genders.

Our tutor said this, and then another girl suddenly started to complain that we have no female tutors in our illustration courses (a bit late being in our second year). I buried my head in my hands, lamenting that they had escaped from the internet, and my friends next to me as well as a few others shouted at both of them to shut up and that it doesn't matter. I have very good friends.

The only time I've genuinely encountered SJW-like behavior was my tutor at College. I was browsing my twitter feed on International Men's Day, and she notices. She says to me "Oh, international men's day? Isn't that everyday?" and I respond by looking and her straight in the eyes and saying "No", then promptly going back to my browsing. Shit was funny.

Jesus this is sad, I'm worried a good friend of mine's girlfriend is going to go that way too. Has a tumblr and is starting to post worrying content. I have no idea what to do if that occurs.

You're better off in the long run. You really don't need people like that.

And the same kind of thing happened to an online friend (that I met through WoW when she dated a friend of mine before breaking up with him after threatening to commit suicide) where she suddenly claimed to be a trans man when I used to follow her tumblr. But she disappeared on me after a while.

Not sure if this kind of thing belongs here, but here's an example of oppression olympics in recent events.
The National Union of Students’ LGBT Campaign has passed a motion calling for the abolition of representatives for gay men – because they “don’t face oppression” in the LGBT community.
The NUS LGBT+ Campaign discussed the issue at its annual conference, which took place in Sheffield this week.
At the event, delegates passed a motion that blames “cis gay men” for “misogyny, transphobia, racism and biphobia”.

Absolutely ridiculous.

Absolutely ridiculous.

The NUS is run by the absolute worst people, the only reason anyone joins up is for the discount card. The actual union is dominated by jumped up little Trotskys that squeal about nothing all the time.

They also support ISIS bombings as they're the result of 'disenfranchised people unhappy with the treatment from Western civilisation' rather than being fucking loons with a seriously unwarranted superiority complex.
Pretty much as long as you're not a white male they'll defend you no matter what you do. They're so awful that even people I know who could be considered Social Justice Warriors can't stand them.

Found this written on the sidewalk outside my dorm today. For pride week, our school has asked the LGBTQIA (etc) students to decorate the campus.
