If you hate Chris, why?

He could sort recycling or bundle newspapers, he could corral shopping carts, he could bag groceries... if people with much more debilitating mental conditions such as down syndrome can work, there's no reason other than sheer laziness and entitlement that the fat autist can't do the same.

Retarded people can focus on the task at hand. Seriously autistic people can't.

I know he's had a job before, I don't need your condescending snark.

Are you autistic too?

They rage against his lifestyle while secretly desiring it.

How lame is that?!

If you've followed Chris' Youtube comments, whenever he doesn't disable the comments that's what they consist of. Even the people who criticize Chris on this forum pretty harshly according to our own standards, are much kinder to him than the people on Youtube.
He should just directly upload his videos here :)

I can never fully understand why people hate Chris. I mean sure he is an idiot and he's certainly narrow minded in ways, but life punishes him more than enough. Regardless of whether or not he gets paid money to sit around playing video games, his life right now is absolutely pathetic, he's forced to look after his ailing mother and then whenever she's dead he'll be completely alone and completely responsible for himself. He lives a miserable existence so the whole 'Chris is allowed to do nothing all day and never gets punished for being such an idiot' argument stands even less true now than it ever did.

Like others have said Chris has provided me with more enjoyment and interest than any video game or television show ever has, I can't hate him for that. I can be briefly annoyed when he does something stupid but he doesn't deserve hatred.

It's hard to hate Chris, unless he's personally wronged you in some way. There are plenty of people out there who are far more despicable than Chris, even at his worst. I don't wish him any real harm or suffering, and I legitimately felt bad for him when he lost his dad and when 14BLC caught fire. How he reacts to perceived injustices (losing a contest, having an "original" idea "stolen," whenever a multinational corporation does something he doesn't like, etc) is entertaining as fuck, though.

If the fat idiot can focus when playing with toys or video games or when he's making his model magic abominations, he can focus on simple tasks at a menial job.

His focus isn't the issue. Yes Chris can focus on those things, but the problem is he's shit at them. He's shit at everything he's ever done, including the two jobs he's actually had at one point (Wendy's and Cutco, if memory serves). He lost those jobs because he's talentless and incompetent.

But to be fair, both those jobs involved working with people. Perhaps, when he was younger, he might have done better at a job he didn't need to be around people to do. Right now though, I think his mind is too far gone. He's deteriorating both mentally and physically and getting worse with every passing year. Also there's Barb. She wont let him get a job. After all if he gets a job, he wont be at home as much to wait on her hand and foot.

I don't hate Chris as much as I feel pity for him. Sure, a lot of his beliefs/attitudes/misfortunes are purely his fault, but his reality isn't the same as our reality. He was brought up in a world where he was taught to believe that he's helpless, that he's unable to accomplish anything other than collecting welfare/SSI for the rest of his life. He was never taught any type of life skills (because Borb never believed it would do him any good), so he's literally stunted at a 12 year old level mentally (not considering the autism) because he's been so utterly sheltered all of his life. On the other hand, he was also brought up to believe that he's a special snowflake because of his autism, and that those around him should accommodate him in whatever way he deems necessary, so in all honesty, it's his upbringing that I hate. Chris is a product of his upbringing, and we all know how fucked up that was. Even for an adult who doesn't have any type of disability, it would be incredibly difficult to find (and accept) that your entire life and upbringing was practically a lie.

But to be fair, both those jobs involved working with people. Perhaps, when he was younger, he might have done better at a job he didn't need to be around people to do. Right now though, I think his mind is too far gone. He's deteriorating both mentally and physically and getting worse with every passing year.

Studies have revealed that the longer one stays in an isolation type setting (with no to very little human interaction), the worse the human psyche breaks down. The only interaction that OPL has had in the past (almost) decade has been largely with his parents, and trolls...there have only been a few instances where he has actually gone out and done things in the public, but when he does, he's documented and ridiculed (mostly because he does have a tendency to make an ass out of himself though). By no means am I trying to white knight OPL, but simple human psychology/human growth and development does explain a lot of his behaviors, and why he really is the way that he is. He's the perfect example of nature vs. nurture going terribly awry.

Personally this is top comment right here

Chris was brought into the world by his parents; the enablers

Bob was the better parent but probably gave up due to his sanity and age

Barb I believe (and agreeing with op) where the hate should be going to but not in an alog way

She's the root of all of Chris' problems, if not most of it.

I don't hate Chris, not be a long shot. I'm relatively late to the game (only having discovered Chris months ago) but he's brought me more free entertainment than any movie or game ever could.

I literally spent two solid weeks reading about Chris, watching his and other's videos whilst recovering from my heart surgery, etc. and still didn't learn everything. Earned a great friend in the process - Megan - and am still learning more each day.

Growing up I had older siblings with mental disabilities that remind me a lot of Chris. Had my mother not coddled them, they could've been more than they are today, but that's not the case. Chris is the result of poor parenting on Barb's part - she babied him and always gave him a free pass - "high functioning autism" - an excuse which Chris has carried throughout his life. Even going as far back as the Sonic the Hedgehog Contest in which Chris won $1,000 worth of vidya, the reporters knew that Chris was "high functioning autistic" and even said so - no doubt because Barb told them.

He's had it drilled into his head from day one that he's different, and that he can act in any way in which he desires because he's special. He was the epitome of a spoiled child, getting everything handed to him. He could act out without consequence, because Barb would never hold him accountable.

Bob shares some fault too - for example trailing Chris on his date with "Emily" - however I think he was just too old and frail in the end to have any reasonable impact in his life.
