I don't hate Chris, not be a long shot. I'm relatively late to the game (only having discovered Chris months ago) but he's brought me more free entertainment than any movie or game ever could.
I literally spent two solid weeks reading about Chris, watching his and other's videos whilst recovering from my heart surgery, etc. and still didn't learn everything. Earned a great friend in the process - Megan - and am still learning more each day.
Growing up I had older siblings with mental disabilities that remind me a lot of Chris. Had my mother not coddled them, they could've been more than they are today, but that's not the case. Chris is the result of poor parenting on Barb's part - she babied him and always gave him a free pass - "high functioning autism" - an excuse which Chris has carried throughout his life. Even going as far back as the Sonic the Hedgehog Contest in which Chris won $1,000 worth of vidya, the reporters knew that Chris was "high functioning autistic" and even said so - no doubt because Barb told them.
He's had it drilled into his head from day one that he's different, and that he can act in any way in which he desires because he's special. He was the epitome of a spoiled child, getting everything handed to him. He could act out without consequence, because Barb would never hold him accountable.
Bob shares some fault too - for example trailing Chris on his date with "Emily" - however I think he was just too old and frail in the end to have any reasonable impact in his life.
