Yes! Let's play the semantics game! Because that has helped with social issues in the past.
The semantics game is the internet slacktivist's best friend.
Why go out of your way to fight for real change when you can sit on your arse all day and yell at people on Twitter for using the wrong word?

This will doubtlessly change the face of civil rights as we know it.

I usually just call people... y'know... people. I don't really see any need to categorize people by skin color or gender unless the situation directly requires it (ie - having to clarify that "Dana" is a dude, etc.) - but whatever Wu, continue to pontificate from your Boston home and compartmentalize everyone out of the idea of equality through mental segregation.

Makes you wonder who did the 3D models, and why they didn't optimize them as part of their regular job anyways? Did they have Wu come storming in telling them not to? I'm not a 3D modellor but I know a little bit. Generally you reduce the unseen polys simply because to not do so is a simple waste of resources.

I just... don't get it. Didn't she hire in professionals?
IIRC, Frank did the modelling.

That kind of stuff is just the pillar of vapid slacktivism, chastising people for language they use rather than the ideas they spread.
Some time ago, it was "ok" to call a person cripple. Then that was no longer "polite" and people were called "disabled". When that wasn't seen as polite, it changed to "handicapped", which itself turned into "handicapable".
[edit]
What I am trying to say: Language always evolves but it seems supporters of PC don't understand that using a different term doesn't make the prejudice attached to the old term suddenly vanish. It'll just slowly affect the 'new' term until it is considered impolite and a new, even more ridiculous, term is coined.[/edit]
Somewhere down the line, the idea of being super PC just lost me and I try to be generally polite and open instead. So when I use a term people are uncomfortable with, I apologize and adapt my language (well, at least within certain boundaries).
The way I see it, PC is a tool for imbeciles that can't grasp the notion of "not being a dick" and using general politeness. It's not like you need the concept of PC to not walk around and call people slurs like "n*gger" or "cripple".

On top of that, the choice of words isn't as important as the mindset and behaviour the person displays.
That is to say: I guess being discriminated isn't so bad when the other person at least uses PC-language while doing so.

That's actually one thing I wonder about. These attempts to be super PC always look to me like they drive a stake between different categories of people. Like, the whole concept of PC tries to pidgeonhole every person it encounters, so rather than expressing respect, it looks like a really elaborate system to categorize and rate people.

Being PC was a big thing in the 90's , and a lot we got out of that was more tokenism and comedy quips mocking it. I like that they're doing the same with RLM. Rich joked about autism and people being too sensitive, and the newest ep he joked that Clyde (red ghost in Pac-Man) was trans in Ms. Pac-Man.

The wave of PCness will ebb eventually, and things will go back to normal before the next one. I very rarely see any of this kind of stuff on other sites I visit as the age range is much higher.

John is THIS close to begin his bitching about pronouns

That was for the spaceships.

Holiday's model was hired out, and (as someone else said) it costs so much money they couldn't do any more. They had to reskin her to use for all the other characters. Hence no men. The snow leopards might just be that character with normal waists.

Also, that tweet of her non-diploma is still alive. It will probably stay up through the weekend and be killed Monday morning, 4 whole days after it was made.

Business Insider said:
If you search for "Brianna Wu" on YouTube, a number of defaming videos come up, including "Transexual Brianna Wu has declared she is the Godzilla of feminism" and "Brianna Wu's ego and lies in seven seconds."

it's not defamation if it's true.
for example: transexual/transgender? everybody knows, and if xe tried to take legal action it would come out through discovery anyway. declared she is the Godzilla of feminism? well, her twitter bio does still say "Godzilla of tech feminists" as of right now.

And not a single video defending John from the CIBERJIHAD

Three in four women! That is wonderful!

Just imagine, every fourth woman on the internet has never-ever encountered a single ugly comment directed at her.
I would have thunk, that if you participate in social media over several years, the chance to stumble over some idiot who calls you names is close to one hundred percent.

100% of everyone who has spent time online has gotten shit of some sort or another.

Something like 5% of people are such pathetic hothouse flowers that they make a big deal out of it.
