ANN has many hilarious interviews in which u can see them trying to get a reply they want from japanese authors, and unltimately failing because the japanese are simply not ideology driven (well, at least not manye of them are).
ANN recently interviewed Naoko Yamada, legendary director of moe anime (K-on, Hibike! Euphonium, Tamako Market and Liz and the blue bird) They embarrassed themselves yet again. Here are the highlights:
Asking if K-on being a show aimed at men was a myth, getting a reply that it was indeed aimed at dudes

Asking if Yamada's intention was to set a trend of cute girls doing cute stuff, getting a very uncomfortable reaction and a normal reply because trends are sometimes organic and not astroturfed by execs like in the westView attachment 3903408
Wanting to make Yamada say "gay rights", she refused yet again (she has refused before in another ANN interview)

Trying to make Naoko YYamada say the reason she decided on chubby girls in her film is due to activism, gets a reply that's due to chubby girls feeling more real "as if u could touch them"
