Locals response to VP's Philippine visit. US Vice President Harris has arrived in Manila to reset US ties with the Philippines. She has also planned to visit the disputed islands of Palawan. She has met with protests. Dozens of activists held a rally near the presidential Palace in Manila saying they wanted the Philippines to be peaceful and remain independent of America's politics and influence.


Some things never change. I wonder how US journalists will try to spin this.

Just like millions of little brown children throughout the planet the Filipino children cry out to the sky "Please, we dont want any "help" from the USA! Please leave us alone!"

Its actually very sad.

So I've been watching Boondocks episodes lately and niggardry of this scale can only happen if you let people like Riley do whatever they want all the time. As a side effect, Uncle Ruckus ends up sounding more reasonable as the years go on.

I'm not sure if I'm the retard or they are, but wouldn't this stat in a vacuum be a good thing? It's essentially saying that, despite all the economic bs of the past 50 years, our wages have remained stable instead of diminishing. Isn't that ok?

I find it very difficult to keep up with bill changes and this made me realize there's no reason legislation in our government shouldn't have changes applied using a version control tool like git. Yes, the thing github is based of of. It would allow anyone to very easily see who made what changes to any bill.
Briefly looking into it, it may be possible to implement this on your own but it should be the default. They won't do it since accountability is their bane, of course.

That's a great idea. Is there any sort of petition system like in the UK where you can get a petition going for this? If you want to improve democracy in the USA you need to change how the system works, not just the people in it.

A repository for any legislation and other assorted similiar bullshit would honestly make my life a fuckton easier.
Which is why it won't happen. Politics is a smokescreen by the elite to pretend they matter while stealing your money.
Of course they're not going to make it harder for them to do so.

BUT a content aggregate ran by the community would be a good start.
You can even tell the databases for this shit is so close to looking like a git repository, but the boomer juices are scuzzing everything up, and that's just the state-level of bullshit.

Even if he's not going hardcore free speech, this is still a breath of fresh air. On old twitter you'd just get banned randomly with vague references to the most open to interpretation community guidelines ever conceived. You'd never know why, it'd never be acknowledged by twitter, and they'd pretend they were being even handed. With Elon we know who is banned and specifically why. He's wearing his bias on his chest.

It really is amazing, even when Elon fucks up it's still an improvement over old twitter, because old twitter was just that shitty. It's physically impossible for Elon to make twitter worse.
