I don't examples with me, but my memory was that Bob had a very, "Florida needs Disney more than Disney needs Florida" attitude.
Which of course matches Bob's mentality that instead of reconciling that Disney's messaging is pissing off half of their customer base and should ease up on the performative progressiveness, they should just put Disney World on a big truck and move it.

Josh made a point about this on poa.st- Disney is paywalling its old content (Toy Story 1-3, its classic animated movies, the original Star Wars trilogy etc.) on Disney+. This attracts customers who want to see the old stuff, and lets Disney's marketing department aggressively advertise the new stuff.Lightyear tanking, Marvel interest waning and underperforming at every level, Star Wars being thrust to bottom tier franchise status - Bob screamed that these were all good moves! Changing leadership should infuriate this man, but, right guys?
Disney+ added a lot of subscribers, but still reported an operating loss of almost $1.5 billion. They're dumping millions and millions into shows that aren't drawing the returns to justify that cost. He considers David Zaslav a special ed student, but Zaslav actually understands business. Not only is that guy shedding content that's too much money for too little return, he's going to be there when HBO Max merges with Discovery next year.
But people don't want to see the new stuff for some reason. As it turns out, astroturfing ideologicalchange isn't a viable money-making strategy. Or to put it in terms Bob will understand: "Get woke, go broke."

It's even funnier because the media press has had a number of articles on the "most popular show the media press doesn't watch" and without looking I already know these were posted to Twitter, they were just ignored by people like Bob and Matt because it was outside their narrow interests. Plenty of people have called it something like Middle America's Succession to try and get across its popularity to the willfully ignorant self-proclaimed elites.
I know Bob pays no attention to the actual industry side of media other than to yell about his "if I like it it's financially successful, if I don't they're literally bankrupt" delusions but you'd think someone who is paying "researchers" and writers may prefer to pay someone who does. Or perhaps actually understands "film theory" given you know... the channel title. It baffles me to look at MatPat's education credentials and understand how he thinks paying Bob for anything at all is a good idea. I'm not saying that MatPat is smart or knows what he's talking about (and even less that he's necessarily good with money) either I'm just saying that a good student usually recognizes an awful one, especially one who never improves in any way. It's like the teacher's pet paying the guy who personally eats his own homework to write him a term paper.

I know it's been that complaint for awhile that while the press will talk about something like Game of Thrones, the actual ratings numbers would be topped by CBS fare like NCIS or Blue Bloods.
Now a lot of this has been complicated by "delayed viewers" (streaming services and recordings, etc). The biggest concern though for every TV show is what were the 18-29 demographics report on a show. Why? Advertising. When you're 30+, you've pretty much settled on your brands. I get "X brand detergent" because it has served me well for years - etc. But when you're that 18-29? Highly likely you are on your own and just starting to make purchases - so the advertisers want to grab you so you pick THEIR detergent when you are standing in the aisle, staring at the shelves upon shelves of options.
That's a large part of the divide is that the highest rating shows are highest rated among the largest demographics: Boomers. (and I don't mean the slur, I mean the old folks) That they're dying off now means none of the advertisers care about ads for them (except those showing medicare supplements and old person devices - geez TV is so depressing now), they're trying to get in on what the youth are watching.

I suppose it's possible he's autistic enough to look into the lore of a game series and IP he hates.
Then he pretends Mario Lore is more consistent than Sonic Lore, while he's normally a guy who thinks, "Canon doesn't matter" for things like Marvel series.
