TBH, I got a few Turkey Day drinks in me and, while the technical errors in the book are pretty bad, I think it's incredibly silly to make fun of him for anything he did as a child. I applaud him for having the balls to say "I was a pants-pissing autistic, and now I'm not". It's clear that he's not going to let his childhood hurt him today, nor be ashamed of it, because he grew up and moved past it. Like "Ooh this guy who's apparently worth $500k was autistic, what's my excuse?" I think you'd have to be an envious faggot to make fun of him for that lol

Doug Walker’s “Kickassia” was pretty bad, with the only redeeming features being it’s how I discovered CinemaSnob (but even he’s very mediocre in the grand scheme of things), NC acting like a spaz, and Lindsey Ellis acting like Sarah Palin.

Question is, was Kickassia (or any of NC’s “movies”) worse than the AVGN movie?
I think the only one that’s worse is To Boldly Flee. The other NC movies are at least comically bad. To Boldly Flee is boring and takes itself way too seriously

I think it was one of his, "You know what is Bullshit" videos, where he shat on Blu-ray. It made me realize, this guy either has a shit set-up at home for viewing films, or, he is so invested in old media he cannot stand a better format out there, or, he is just retarded.
Most people noticed things were a little off during that "behind the scenes" video last year. The book just confirmed a lot of stuff people were speculating about.
If you rewatch some "You know whats Bullshit", "J&M Mondays" or "Rental Reviews" with this new frame of mind, you'll start noticing just how much of a sperg James is and how you just missed it. But this can also be explained by people only caring about the next AVGN.

I was a pants-pissing autistic, and now I'm not
False statement.
People are talking about him more because he has always had tard wranglers to suppress him, but in the last year or so, he's breaking containment.
I thought he was slowing down but the book just opened the floodgates again, lol.

They are all worse, they have far poorer product values, are beyond incompetent when it comes to sound and To Boldly Flee has an insane run time. Only thing is it has over AVGN the movie is that most of the people involved were under no illusion they were shit and just tried to have a good time while filming.

AVGN movie is bad but it doesn't get the basics wrong. Stuff like sound and shot quality isn't good by any means but it's not distracting, you won't notice it for good or bad for the most part. And James had the common sense to get an alright camera and use Steadicam, while everything Doug did movie wise looks like it was done on a cheapo camera he bought from wallmart not made in anyway for professional use.

I guess the question is when is something a “movie” vs a really long YouTube video? NC’s crap felt like really long amateur YouTube videos instead of movies, whereas AVGN did everything he could to make it like an actual movie. Or does making a distinction like this even make sense.

Thinking of some great and (not so) great YouTube videos that were movie-length and am thinking whether we should call them movies…

Good, it should. It was, literally, truthfully, absolutely, the worst film I have ever seen.
i mean it was bad but nowhere near the worst shit ive seen, its honestly not even bad enough to be funny bad just bland and forgettable

james no matter what still has an excuse it was an indie film when big name studios push out stuff you instantly forget or things so bad they kill billion dollar franchises that is truly awful

i think the nostalgia critic movies have the meme quality or so bad its somewhat amusing like shit you would make fun of with friends

no one wants to watch the avgn movie even to mock it

Kickassia wasn't really that bad in my opinion. Suburban Knights and To Boldy Flee were the really bad anniversary specials. Doug was just trying to take himself too seriously and it didn't really have the lighthearted humor that the site was known for.

I would say maybe that the AVGN movie is better than those two but worse than Kickassia.

Do some of you actually want a sanitized biography that twists or omits things to show the subject only in good light? If he wants to reveal embarrasing facts, great. The real crime is writing like a fifth-grader and not hiring an editor.
The issue is that he spends most of his time going over his childhood and not the actual most interesting point of his life, which was the beginning of his videos and being what is arguably the vanguard of modern gaming content..

CA movies (and Demo Reel, hot shot quiz show) are so much worse than the AVGN movie there is no comparison. AVGN sucked, but I could sit through it at least.

The ET review at the end of AVGN movie is at least on par of a contemporary review from then. That alone makes it better than anything in any of the CA movies.

Is this a contest?

Easily the AVGN movie is worse than any of Doug Walker's movies, bar none. Yes, Doug's movies are terrible, but they're also at least enjoyable in a so-bad-it's-good sorta way. At least you get pumped up and excited to see what happens in the movies. Nothing ever exciting happens in the AVGN movie.

this furfag liked the book
Jesus...fucking...christ.

I wonder if that book is mostly about his shitty old home movies. If it has a good chunk about AVGN and Board James then maybe it will be cool.
