Mario Bros. Set to Jump to Big Screen in Movie Deal with Universal’s Illumination - Paging Movie Bob, Paging Movie Bob...

I love how they think Charles Martinet is a box office draw. Studios hire known actors for voice over roles since it helps the marketing for parents that will end up watching the film. The fact that Chris Pratt annoys them is also a nice plus. I never kept up with the games past Super Mario World, so I'm unfamiliar with the differences between Peach and Daisy. Bowser and Koopa are the same, but it depends on how Nintendo decided to translate the game? I thought that Lou Albano was the first guy to voice Mario.
The biggest difference between Peach & Daisy is that Daisy is superior to her in every conceivable way.

Edit: I forgot to include, but she's also supposedly Luigi's girl. In name of Charlie Day being Luigi:

In other words, Peach is the pretty pink princess while Daisy is the Tomboy. A lot of Super Mario fans love her for that simple factoid.

Few hypotheses:

1. Dub faggotry persists even from the Japanese video game/anime western fandom world.
2. There's probably a case of "native authenticity" going on here. Day is famous for being in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, which as its title states, it's set in the East Coast of the US, and that gives him more credit for being Mario. I don't even know what state or region of the country Pratt is from, but that's none of my business.
3. This gem was posted in the ANN thread:

That's all I can think of.
Luigi's also more popular with fans than Mario, because he has stronger characterization and gets painted as the underdog next to his brother. Mario himself is like his stats in most games, the all-arounder who has nothing that sticks out about him. The biggest thing he has going for him is that he's Mario.

lmao they’re straight up just lying about the games at this point to make it look like Mario was always dumb and Peach was always an epic badass from day one, this is literally just a cutesy way of making the game longer, it’s not supposed to be a serious tidbit of character writing

Twittards supposedly made non-existent lore out of a platformer game from 1985. I'm not even surprised anymore.

And the other reasons

It's not so much that it's just fiction, it's more that Mario has never really been consistent or had any kind of overarching continuity with anything whether it be story or characters or anything else. Every piece of media in the Mario franchise is basically its own thing that barely has any connection to anything else other than being about an Italian plumber who wears a red and blue outfit named Mario. Getting worked up because the characters aren't a perfect match to whatever your idea of them is is pretty ridiculous.

I used to post this video to point out the mental retardation/autism of taking the Mario storyline/canon/timeline/whatever too seriously

Of course, it was very difficult to find now because every autist on the internet decided to take it seriously since 2020 hit and they bought a Switch during lockdown and also start Youtube channels.

Never seen that one. It's pretty good but it left out the time when Mario, peach, bowser and all them decided to put on a big play acting out bowser kidnapping peach and Mario going to save her.

Personally, I've just always assumed Mario just fucked his brain from eating too many amanita muscarias and now he's trapped in a permanent delusion just tripping out constantly imagining all that shit while jumps around in a padded cell going 'let's a go' 'mamma mia' 'oooohhh nooo'.

I hope it's good. It would be nice to have a good movie, especially a good video game adaptation. I would love to see more games adaptations that are proud to be game adaptations that show their origins with love and care. My first reaction to trailer was finding the voice acting so off putting that I couldn't fully pay attention to anything else. Now I have watched it few times in different languages I got more complete feel for the movie.

I do see plenty of good signs. I'm happy that the character designs look better in motion than they do in stills witch I found quite unnerving. I like that there are plenty of references to Mario games. I like that they are mostly accurate to the general Mario look. The environments looked neat and varied. I like the stainglass window, it's maybe my favorite version of it. I like that princess Peach is in her iconic dress most of it and then goes the her Mariocart motorcycle outfit. There doesn't seem to be mandatory token racial minorities, just classic Mushroom Kindom creatures. There is just general knowledge of this Nintendo property all around that feels good.

Thing I'm still skeptical because this what they want to show off from the movie and there are warnings signs. I still don't care for the voice acting, Mario was misscasted. I'm worried that princess Peach won't be herself and will be annoyingly OP. Girlbosses in current media tend to suck all fun around them and go together with other writing pitfalls. I'm bit worried that they crammed in too many references and there won't be time for natural plot movement and spacing. Also I'm not biggest fan of huge amounts of slapstick and there were that from multiple scenes. Some slapstick is fine but it can stop a story from flowing because falling for the third time is like extra funny. With all the references will they resist 4th wall braking meta humor that while can be funny always brakes my immersion. Also I just don't trust current year Hollywood.

All and all, I'm willing to give this a honest go. I see some good and some bad. I'm worried but not insulted and that is currently good enough.

Yeah I obviously will assume the worst but "Mario is bumbling* is least of my concerns
Actually playing Mario games involves running face first into a goomba a few dozen times and getting lost in pipes.

That weird af face on Peach is still some wtf

Oh, Lord, yes. Brunettes are by far the most beautiful. Also, as a sheer numbers game, there are many more beautiful brunettes than beautiful blondes.
Just another reason troons get the noose.

Imagine telling women like this that they're meant to cut their tits off and become men. Absolute fucking heresy.
Alright fellas, put your dicks away. This is a thread about a kids movie.

be careful what you ask for, tomboys are queer-coded to be lesbians, you really want current year hollywood go there? they gonna save that for the sequel
