Cartoon Industry thread - Showcasing the Spergery of the Animation Industry

I just want to go back to the 2000s where people took issue with how Teen Titans looked even though that was probably the best case-scenario before A:TLA came out.
I'm pretty sure there were other anime-inspired shows and movies before either Teen Titans or ATLA came out, such as Marvin Mystery, and even then the 2000s was more of an underground decade, something compared to either 2010s and (so far) 2020s.

Thundercats has that anime-esque feel, weirdly enough (when you ignore the obviously-outsourced intro), but the first season of DiC's Inspector Gadget was partially-produced by TMS Entertainment. Which makes sense since the opening kinda has a Lupin III feel to it.

Don't forget to mention Transformers and Batman: TAM (and hell, I'll throw in Angry Beavers and Powerpuff Girls as they sorta count), if we're talking about memorable anime-like artstyles.

Sooo fucking late and gay I know, but I have to ask.... even the classic era animators? (1925-1970)
Yes. Artists in general have always been outcasts, weirdos or some form of abnormal since you kinda need an unusual perspective of the world in order to create something, or have that inclination to create even if you can't make bank on it.

EDIT: Ward Kimball was totally an autist fwiw. Just... c'mon.

If you're willing to sit around and draw pictures, flipping back and forth making sure it looks right all day long, then yeah you'd probably have to be a little insane in the head.

If you aren't averse to reading then I'd recommend reading Chuck Amuck, its an autobiography of Chuck Jones. It's pretty funny all around but also gives you a sense on how animators and other parts of the industry were back then. While animators were always weirdos you can tell there was a much better appreciation for craft back then. The way guys like chuck jones and richard williams talk about animation feels pretty detached from modern discourse.

I'd say even modern animators such as Chris Wedge, David Silverman and anyone working at Cartoon Saloon (in which they are huge fans and admirers of Chuck Jones and Richard Williams) feel a bit more distracted from the real world to focus on animation.

I will never forgive western animation fans for making pantheon flop. For years they have been begging for more serious adult animation, and when one comes out, they ignore it. I know it wasn't promoted well enough that not many people have amc+, but I have seen these people make the owl house amphibia trend all over the internet. it's one of the reasons why I think the fans are why the west is failing in animation

The reviews I read were indifferent to negative - is it actually a good show? Do you think it's a case of something legitimately innovative getting ignored like when Futurama first aired? I honestly have not watched it because all I heard was "it was boring".

I guess it can be called boring since the show focuses on technology, but it had a good plot and great characters that I haven't seen in an adult animated show long time the closes comparison I would make to it is serial experiments lane. But my main point is why do fans say that animation is for everyone but only make shows for kid's trend

Really impressive for someone whose show has little-to-no merchandise sales. What does her husband do for a living, anyway?
Ian? He does similar work to Rebecca, animation and such. Only thing he's done recently from what I can see is voice Yellow in Neon White.

Shit, is animation news really that slow this week to the point CB has to report on some one-hit-wonder's purchase of a house in the most third-world city in the US?

I can attest to that.

I’mma power-level here, I’ve encountered a lot of fan artists and fanfic writers on social media and I can honestly say a lot of them are freaks. And their fans/supporters are sometimes worse.
