The Addams Family was a very loving family who just happened to be an oddity to normal people. Absolutely any episode provided ample proof that Mom loved Dad and Parents loved Kids.

Rapp Family is a trainwreck. They're on their "honeymoon", a time where married people spend time together, and usually take time off work to meet that goal. What we have here is Jake, alone as always, while his wife goes around fucking other people. The only difference is that she may or may not be making money this time around and Jake isn't home, he's in a different location than usual.

You are right about that. You can have openness in a relationship but the dynamic between the two Rapps is unhealthy and depressing that cannot foster a family and train wreck is probably the best comparison of the relationship.
