Good teachers who actually care are incredibly rare, and I wouldn't say it's as simple as hit or miss, because the hits basically come in one form and the misses have a massive range of fucked. I went to what was considered a good public school, and at the time I didn't notice it as much, but as I've gotten older I look back at a lot of shit teachers did and it's much shittier when you have perspective that's not completely warped by that contained system.
Granted, I lived in a blue area so maybe it's worse here because of that, but I would have no issue saying that the majority of teachers are narcissist idiots that no adult would take seriously in most cases, so they find child victims that don't know any better to fuck with and impose their world view on. I can't find it at the moment, but I remember there was some webcomic by a guy who was a teacher and it's all about him screaming at a friend during dinner because the friend was rich but could never understand the value that teachers provide and that's worth more than all the wealth in the world in his opinion. It was one of the most self righteous and self masterbatory things I've seen, which really reflects how most of them are, and they're all exceedingly bitter because they're not constantly praised as the world's heroes.

I hear you, and agree in theory, but I'm skeptical as to how practical homeschooling is for a huge portion of the populous currently, and not even due to any regulatory burden. Even assuming you've got a two-parent household, the lower two-thirds of the economic bell curve are going to have a hard time dedicating one parent to full time teaching. It's just not financially going to work.
And while charter schools and co-ops are a better alternative if you can find them, they are also under constant threat from the regulatory state and are still commonly getting infiltrated by the woke mind virus. It's a pretty bleak situation.
For all my black-pilling on American education, I actually think the majority of teachers are well-meaning and actually do care for their students. However, they are overwhelming naïve low-IQ muppets, and are completely unable to even comprehend the predators among them, and the disfunction of their bloated administration. They are more than willing to substitute the previous generation's religion with worship of pro-LGBT "niceness", resulting in all of the Loudon county shit. Education programs at universities have the lowest SAT scores and IQs of any major, including such intellectual heavyweight programs like "Social Work", and it shows.
I'm old and remember a time when a significant chunk of the older teachers were still Vietnam era military veterans. They were hardasses, but if anyone fucked with a student, they would regret it. Younger versions of those guys got chased out of teaching as a profession in the early 2000's, and were replaced with more and more women who simply wanted to "do good". The schools are way worse as a result.

Yes, and how many of the parents of these underachieving students really *care* enough to take the time, effort, and sacrifice to get their kid on the right path? The hood rats that people are thinking of have parents that do not car, or else they would be taking proactive steps to keep their kids out of fuckshit.
Homeschooling is only a viable proposition for the ones that are able (and more importantly willing) to do what it takes to get their kids a better life.
The rest of the kids are going to languish until something in the system changes, or their kids end up in poverty and/or jail.

I guess, what kind of better life are you setting them up for? Do they eventually go to college? What are they going to work in or do?
The problem is that if 98% of the population is getting its brains scrambled by bullshit, where is your kid going to fit in exactly? What path do they have through life, and among whom?
They're going to have to interact with and play nice with the system at some point, a system that's going to largely be shaped by whatever ideological rot is pervasive in academia, because we've created a situation where we allow universities to be the primary gatekeepers of economic participation.
I see people on here all the time acting like they're just going to take their kid and forcibly shape them like they're ball of clay and it's going to somehow free them from the shackles of society's woes like it's all some easy fix when in reality power is too centralized for that to be an option. You either participate on their terms or you don't participate at all.
In that way modern schooling is actually pretty good in current year context, because the same people who are going to have control over employing your kids one day are the ones dictating curriculum. That centralization itself is the bigger issue here.

I just noticed he lost 3k subs since early November. He peaked at 480k and is down to 477k. It started before his retreat to youtube but the loss has continued. It'll be interesting to see if this trend continues or corrects.
