The Last of Us Franchise - Because it's apparently a franchise now. This thread has been double-DMCA’d by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Why a reboot? Couldn't they just continue the series with Nate's brother? Or Chloe? Or Nate's daughter?
Was the El Dorado plotline with the zombie spaniards and nazis really that revolutionary that you have to do it twice?
I bet most people could likely think up five new Uncharted titles at the top of their head.
probably not a reboot. more likely another spinoff type game or a remake of the first one a la last of us part 1, which tbh wouldnt be that bad an idea

Well it's being called a reboot. But It's very likely that whatever Uncharted game that's coming out is going to play differently from the previous ones.'

It's a new developer under Sony and it sounds like they're wanting to lean further into the action aspect of the series. Personally I'm expecting something similar to how the Square Enix Tomb Raider games played. So something not structured with a singular path forward and with no dedicated major QTE segments.

The Original Uncharted is a rough game to play and I do not think they're going to just copy that. The reboot may feature references to previous titles like the movie did, but this seems to be a whole new timeline.

the worst thing about a remake for tlou would be that the reality of it would actually be rather disappointing. because all it would be is the exact same game we got in 2013 but with updated visuals, the encounter system, the accessibility and difficulty features of tlou2, cheats, some of the game mechanics of tlou2 like proning and the grass stealth maybe, and maybe some new added content but not much. at most, i'd expect maybe another level or 2 to be added at some point in the game's story but thats about it other than some minor rewrites to the story like having the ending match up to what we saw in tlou2's opening or having bill explicitly state he's gay because implying it isnt enough.
i am surprise how close i was with the predictions to the actual released remake barring that last part about minor story content being added in. despite having played and beaten the game like twice, i'll probably get the remake once it hits pc in march, and judging by playstation's track record of releasing their games with like no fucking drm on them, theres a decent chance i can do it around launch and see what i think about the remake

Sony is allegedly rebooting Uncharted since 4 was written into a corner and it's probably going to be under their new studio that was created to work on Naughty Dog IPs outside of Naughty Dog.
Imagine having to outsource your own IP because the studio can't make actual games anymore.
Uncharted 4 was the Last Jedi of the franchise. If they reboot the IP, you can expect the main character to be "Nathalie" Drake.

The doctor was just dumb enough to spare the primates rather than eliminate them as a potential vector for more fungus bullshit. But that's the fireflies in general, fucking around and finding out.

Anyone this self destructively heart bleeding deserves to bleed IRL.
I like how fat this injun lady is. Her weight implies that in spite of being years into the shroom apocalypses the casino buffet line is still going strong.

its been 20 years, right? Even someone starting this fat would definetly lost quite some pounds if they were able to make it since they would have to eat the bare minimun everyday only.

There are no fat people in the post apocalypse, they are either dead or forced themselves to thin down over the years.

Things like that just exist in bad movies and shows and just takes you out of the experience.
Joel goes from looking buff and scary faced to looking like he has a less bulky body and softer expression.

I know right? Joel went from someone imposing that you most certainly did NOT want to be on the bad side of to looking more...toned down?

Maybe its more realistic but for me it helped give some stylization to the characters that made them stand out and helped their characterization. Thats why I hate full on realism in art and gaming, because its not reality, its fiction.

Because the studio is filled my movie director wannabes instead of actual passionate people about video games.

Its legit full of people that hate video games

I definitely think they're hiding the sales numbers after the launch window on purpose, since while impressive that number doesn't factor in the number of people who returned the game in disgust after the Joel-in-One was confirmed. You don't get a chain like Gamestop literally putting "not accepting returns" signs on the big fancy TLOU2 display literally the week of launch if things are at all okay.

The current remaster and renaming to 'Part 1' is entirely because they're hoping the HBO show is a hit, but I'm already seeing people who haven't played the game being skeptical. Things like "if this is several years after apocalypse, how are there still fat people"
...Only scenario would be if a cannibal got enough human meat to get fat and even that would require quite the specific series of things happening to happen (In case that was meant as a rhetorical question, i just couldn't stop myself from answering)

I tried real hard to get into Uncharted and it didn't click with me. I beat the first one but never felt the need to go beyond that.

I've played the original enough times to know it backwards and forwards and watching even just a few seconds of some gameplay I immediately noticed that gave Joel a different body model. He's built like a brick shithouse in the normal game and he's soyed up in the redundant remake.

If they reboot the IP, you can expect the main character to be "Nathalie" Drake.
The new movies they're making are featuring Drake, his origin in the movies is an amalgamation of what was established in the games, but the locations they're taking place in are different.

More or less I wouldn't expect the new games to deviate much in terms of the main character.

So this guy apparently has a good track record...

So I get that Cuckman is a male feminist with daddy issues so in a fucked up way his hatred of Joel sort of makes sense but what did Ellie do to justify the amount of pain suffering and mutilation he keeps heaping on her?

Is he that fucking salty that the former head of Naughty Dog wouldn't allow him to kill her off at the hands of the Fireflies in TLOU1?

Like most male feminists, he's turned on by the suffering/weakness of women.

Joel and Ellie arent his creations, not entirely anyway. Others like Amy had high involvement in their creation and characterization. He was told "no" quite a lot during the first game's production Im sure, and he, being the mature guy he is, kept a fucking grudge.

So after some Jewish Tricks ™️ he got Amy and others kicked out of the company, leaving him as the solo creative head for the series moving forward so the best way to assert his "dominance" was to kill off Joel and destroy Ellie's character while making his original character come out ontop despite everything and everyone that she hurt and betrayed (because its only bad when Ellie does it apparently).

Ellie's character assassination already began with Left Behind but Part 2 has finished the job hard. She may not be dead but she may as well be.
What story is even left to tell at this point?

Looking from Part 2's perspective, maybe following Abby after the events of Part 2 as she tries to start over with her tranny pet.

Ellie tho? I dont see much and it wouldnt surprise me if she was nowhere in Part 3 outside of maybe some easter eggs or references. Unless they try to make Part 3 her "redemption" story somehow (redemption for what exactly? The morally stunted dev and audience might know).
Like most male feminists, he's turned on by the suffering/weakness of women.

Its good to be reminded that male feminist are...a scary bunch once you peek into the skeletons in their closets (or their C.P filled hardwares)

Well the next game after Factions is going to be TLOU 3.

Supposedly the main theme is going to be trust
I guess this confirms that Joel is coming back as a Sentient Mega Clicker so Ellie will have to learn to trust the fungus

I wonder if they will try to make this game the "olive branch" towards us now that they suddenly realise they need our money us.

If so, spit on their face and give them nothing. They would do much worse to you if they were in your place.

I'll rent it from GameStop when someone trades it in.
