Aren't these the same useless fucks who have been gloating for years about how luxury space communism is going to get rid of everyone else's jobs?
What I find funny about the AI art debate is that, a whole year before this, OpenAI's GPT was fully capable of generating premises for novels, as well as entire semi-competent scenes that only really needed a little bit of touch-up from an editor for coherency and continuity. The idea of a partly AI-generated novel using GPT wasn't farfetched at all. You could roll up to NaNoWriMo with a 50,000 word novella having only written not even half of that in prompts and then editing and shoehorning the AI's spew into something readable in a few days. It was doable.
You didn't hear even a peep from authors about this. No complaint. None. Writers just didn't give a shit, at all. They knew AI could replace their jobs. They knew it was trained on a huge corpus of text that might even include their own. There might have been a couple articles like, "Oh yeah, it's wild how far AI has come", but nobody really cared.
But then, DALL-E, Stable Diffusion, and Midjourney started rolling out, and instantly, thousands of "artistes" collectively lost their fucking minds, whining about "NFT techbros stealing our art".
The funny thing about these woke artists is that they are indeed behaving just like protectionist workers in mid-century labor unions who complained about their jobs being replaced. You know, the same exact blue-collar tradies from the Rust Belt that the Left constantly whine about being uncultured, deplorable philistines with racist, sexist views, whose jobs ought to be outsourced to leave them starving and destitute. Funny how all it took was
their livelihoods being threatened to take these very committed and loyal Techno-Trotskyites and turn them into luddite ancaps and have them start marching around staking their property lines overnight. They're all like, "Why don't you just learn to draw your own art? Wargle bargle".
You could argue that they're being elitist and ableist by restricting tools that could allow paraplegics and retards to make competent art, and watch their cognitive dissonance melt these hypocrites walnut-sized brains into a fucking puddle. Moreover, they're pretty damn arrogant if they think that people will just ignore and stop using algorithms that can do shit like, "A stormtrooper eating a pizza with his helmet on", or, "An HR Giger style Lancia Stratos", or, "A mammoth-tank".

It's instant and practically free. You can't even make an environmentalist argument against this because the watt-hour usage for each generation is so low, it's less than the damn light above your drafting board or the power to run your workstation and graphics tablet for hours on end while you draw. This is the kind of return on investment that corporations literally kill for. It's not going away. It's only going to keep advancing.
