I suspect it's a gut check forced on him by either spacex or tesla. He's saying that the platform wants him in charge, and the backlash is the minority. They are telling him to step down from twitter, or be replaced in the other companies.

Every day, I see yet another "crisis" on Elon Musk's Twitter that's supposed to doom it for real, and every day, it somehow keeps living. Probably because, at the end of the day, internet "influencers" and journoshitters ultimately need social media far more than it needs them.

That'd unironically be one of the most hilarious things imaginable, so given what Elon Musk is doing right now, I'm going to go with that being the most likely happening.

If Elon Musk did anything right, it's completely destroying the illusion of Twitter as being this important social media "hub" for anyone who wasn't already a complete Twitter addict.
