There have been dumb as shit business mergers/buyouts in the past, the big one for me is AOL/Time Warner which they lost billions due to the dot com bubble bursting and ended up terminating their merger like 3 years after it happened.
Well a reason for some people to be upset is that as perhaps ridiclous as this sounds, some people who make things on the Internet rely entirely on growing their presence by spamming links to their social media pages. Effectively they become advertisements for themselves. The dime a dozen OnlyFans girls on Twitter come to mind here. Without having the ability to do that, in their mind I imagine they feel their growth has been effectively limited and are irritated because of this.

I don't think he appealed to the "right" as a way to make money or groom a user base he can milk, although looking at how many of his orbiters bought a Blue subscription, you might come to that conclusion. The pandering to the "right" was done because it's an easy way for him to generate publicity and outrage. He knows there is a crowd out there who will gobble up any kind of information and spread it like wildfire if it confirms their bias.
