I don't know what it is about Jason Slaughter but he just cannot stop retweeting lolcows.

Keep in mind this tweet is a month old too so he probably was browsing through his profile (or retweeted it from someone else, idk).

Maybe not quite a lolcow yet but surely soon, in any case what TC posted is plainly retarded (as is Lorenz and Contrapoints).

The vandilization issue is a massive problem. Let's say it's outside a 7/11. Other than giving the 7/11 worker full authorization to go out there with a semi auto shotgun to scare off half the ghetto, or hiring private security like that gas station owner did in Philadelphia, that shit is going to get spray painted, and in your example, batteries stolen. Maybe less in smaller, nicer towns, but in New York it won't last a week.
you're gonna have to pay that 7/11 guy a lot more money if you want to get him qualified and motivated to play the role of nigger scarecrow
cause that's not something any regular cashier can do or wants to do

Dude getting offended over being called the "priest class" really gives off the whole "I've been found out" vibes.

A Czech YouTuber with a million subscribers made a video about driving in the US versus Europe. Amongst other things, he loves that the US has traffic lights on the far side of the intersection (which Jason claimed, with no evidence, is dangerous for pedestrians/cyclists), he loves right-turn-on-red, and he thinks that it is awesome to be able to park pretty much everywhere and that drive-thrus are a common thing.
One of Jason's fans didn't like the video because the video was fair and not an anti-American and anti-car rant:

They really can't take even the slightest bit of disagreement.
They're all mindlessly repeating Jason's arguments from this video:

Honest Guide is a good anti-cow Youtube channel I watch, shame it's being brigaded by anti-car nutjobs. I think he might have made videos on infrastructure before in the Czech Republic, I'll have to go back through and see.

Generally in Europe they're placed on the side closest to the driver at the intersection but in America they're placed on the other side of the intersection. It's commonly cited as better for pedestrians because (supposedly) drivers will stop farther from the intersection so they can see the lights.

Now it's the urbanists' turn to seethe and have a huge hateboner for Elon Musk. I bet it must suck even more for them because he's Tesla man too and is trying to fix traffic by making self driving cars and underground tunnels rather than abolishing cars.

Meanwhile CityNerd locked down for whatever reason. I don't know when he did it, I haven't been keeping up with him but it's definitely something to do with Elon Musk.

I haven't seen urbanists be this mad in a while. :story:

The only times right turn on red is an issue for us up in the northern cold, is when the old timers don't check their blind spots, and why would any pedestrian want lights to not on the other side, how can you make a proper judgement of when to cross off you can barely see if the light is green or red.

Do urbanites actually only cross the road with the walk sign? As a near full time pedestrian, what they want is atrocious for traffic, and my own safety.

Does Ms. NJB know about all these simps trying to suck her husband's dick?
I'd be more concerned with cavorting with trannies.

Yeah, if they can see the light at all. The idea of stoplights being like is for visibility purposes, and sometimes they'll add another light higher up or in an unusual place if the terrain is anything less than flat.

Putting aside the obvious grift/shady backstory/tranny asskissing/outright lies, has Jason ever publicly claimed to be anything more than just a guy making observations about traffic and cities, the same as what this Czech guy does?

I believe not (unlike not-an-engineer Charles Marohn). His persona seems to just be an ordinary guy who did tons of research into cities and decided to move to the Netherlands because of it and he says things like "the target audience of my channel is me, 20 years ago", though I'm sure his fans don't see him that way and put him on par with the Messiah.

A Not Just Bikes fan realizes that the whole story about people stopping dense development to preserve their property values is a lie:

This guy is actually correct, and it really annoys me when urbanists claim that "NIMBYs" are greedy boomers who just want to see their property values increase. If they actually wanted their property values to be as high as possible, they'd be YIMBYs. It should be obvious that a plot of land that you can build a skyscraper on is more valuable than a plot of land that you can only build a house on, yet most urbanists believe the exact opposite to be true. When "NIMBYs" say they don't want the character of their neighborhoods to change, they're telling the truth and are willingly sacrificing money for quality-of-life, but urbanists always dismiss them and call them greedy liars.

Also, YIMBY is a misnomer. The "My" is almost always a "Your" and the "Yes" is conditional based off of the type of project. Ask a "Y"IMBY if they'll support building a parking garage, highway, subdivision, pedestrian bridge, etc. and watch the "pro"-development activists become extremely anti-development.

I remember a particular forum thread where the development turned out to be a strip mall despite being in the "urban core" of the city. Good times.

Also, the guy's wrong because mixed-use developments don't create new jobs if they're never occupied. All of my hometown's "mixed-use" projects, even in the most "pedestrian-friendly" areas have performed absolutely terribly--a large student-apartment complex is over 80% vacant with a World of Beer as its only real successful tenant, another one has a CVS but still struggles with vacancy, and a nearby outdoor mall is underperforming because they decided to get rid of all the free surface parking (despite it being practically brand-new). Other ones outside the urban area have done even worse, probably because rent is much higher than it would be in a comparable strip mall.
