I think the Rittenhouse case was the beginning of the end. Some of the best commentary but also outperforming the official outlets stroked his ego. The Depp/Heard case wasn't as good in my opinion because they did all the work for him and I really think that was where the nosedive (haha, nose) accelerated.

Another nosedive was the Vic Mignogna judgment. I will say that I do attribute Nick to being one of the acting forces that saved his life. He did a lot of good for that man, he exposed a lot of hypocrisy and lies in the anime dubbing industry. He did a lot of good for people who would've otherwise been silenced. And the Weeb Wars audience, as degenerate as it might be, was integral in his own success too. So when it hit, I felt like he checked out entirely. Yeah, it sucked. Yeah, what else can you do? I think it was less about his presence on camera in that regard and more of a mental thing. Even if it wasn't something that had repercussions on camera I think he was emotionally invested like a lot of us were and when it happened it was a blow that effected him mentally.

You take that and add it to the degeneracy that had been steadily growing, his ego and popularity, and most importantly the general decline in quality of his content and it all fell apart. I think he's too proud to really look at everything that happened critically and also much too proud to acknowledge his mental well-being.

His behavior seems like a bigger cry for help. I don't think we'll ever really know the full story because he still has some sense to keep some aspects of his life private. But the areas he overshares in are very indicative that he's in bad shape. This really is only the beginning if he's going to continue to avoid it.

I said BPD because if he was a narc it would've shown up a lot sooner and he's proven that he does have a decent level of compassion. He is able to put others above himself in times where it is necessary.

I say BPD because the risky behavior and acting out is usually for attention and when called out it gets infinitely worse. A narc backs off during those times because they recognize they're being led to slaughter so to speak. They can identify danger lurking ahead because self preservation stays intact. The whole idea of throwing everyone else under the bus. You see that with Ralph, he still has a degree of survival drive but willfully chooses to ignore it if he thinks the opportunity to exploit it is better than the risk it poses to him. Portugal for instance, good example of that sort of behavior.

But Nick is like a car speeding through stop signs, which is more of a BPD trait. And again, he has consistently been able to put others above him when the time comes. Ralph trashes his relationships with people who steal his thunder. Nick might dislike it when someone eclipses him but he doesn't go and attempt to sabotage them for it.

At the end of the day psychology and psychoanalyzing is a matter of opinion anyway, so it makes sense that people have differing opinions and even a host of experts can come up with 100 different explanations and still be wrong. I enjoy picking people's brains apart because I like to see how correct it ends up being. I don't mind being wrong because it helps me. I'm not an expert, I'm not making money.

A more dedicated autist could probably go back and find the clip. I'll make some effort when I'm on my lunch, but no promises.
