World of Warcraft

This would show a literal shift in how they're handling WoW (by having a non-collect 15 bear Danuses quest) making the world feel a little more lived-in and not have people go 'wait, what the fuck?' when a throwaway line comes up.

(Although it still doesn't address the (stupid, in my mind, but it's there, so...) "there must always be a Lich Kang" crap said at the end of Wrath, but that's a whole other issue.))
The entire point of the Lich King thing was purely because the scourge was such a perpetual motion machine that there had to be someone around to keep them locked up. They could've just said they kept the Scourge contained in Northrend again but I assume at this point they just hate the lore so they tossed it. So they can make way for the Lich King by the way of Thanos or whatever the hell the Dragonflight bad guy is.

Sexually transmitted disease elemental king or some shit.

Yeah, for whatever reason I legit didn't get that. I get the sentiment, but it was demonstrated that the Forsaken, by and large, are very steam rollable if Arthas is out of the picture. It could've just been 'you all are idiots always at each other's throats, besides there's BIGGER shit out there. You can't waste any more time in Northrend than you have. Go. I got this.' instead of some weird pseudo-prophetic nonsense.

A bit of hack writing advice is to write what you know. I guess the genderspecials in their throuples are taking that to heart.

Taking advantage of the freebie weekend (or however long it is) they're doing to try out the Evoker and take a look at what they're willing to share for free of the new expansion. First impressions:
1) The Message (TM) is everywhere, from the lesbo dracthyr ladies, to the nigger elves/kul tirans/humans, the lesbian mowhawk dwarf bitch with the head tats, nixxing not-Indy and not-Belloc despite the centerpiece of the story being this joint expedition between the Reliquary and the Explorer's League, to Alexstrasza's troon majordomo.
2) Holy shit the Evoker is fun. I have never had as much fun with a caster as I am having with my Evoker.
3) The throwaway lines about how it's been years since Sylvie-Sue broke the LK's hat and the sky, and how the Horde and Alliance managed to murder the shit outta the resurgent Scourge without killing each other, makes me wish Sylvie-Sue had just broken the sky and fucked off and the last expansion was about us fighting off the Scourge while trying to avoid a Fifth War.
4) I haven't gotten to dragon riding yet, and I frankly don't care, but my guildies all fucking love it.
5) I'm dubious about the profession changes. In some ways, they strike me as quite nifty, and in other ways as more of an excuse to suck gold from players who aren't already masters of the auction house and/or coasting on massive profits from the WoD and Legion mission tables. The initial cost to be able to do anything in the Dragon Isles is obscene.
6) This feels like WoW, as opposed to Shittylands, which felt like a fucking wannabe grimdark Isekai wearing WoW's skin.

I dunno. Am I just being too charitable? Is it all honeymoon phase? I resolved to wait until the 10.0.5 or 10.1 patch before buying (assuming my guild didn't melt away to other games before then, like they'd done with both BfA and Shittylands), but I am enjoying what I'm seeing so far and having fun. Am I just an autistic paypig with shitty taste and an addictive sort of personality?
No, I myself am having fun with it as well despite my moderate impressions so far. It’s not for everybody however and especially the old crowd of WoW and there are genuine reasons to not like this expansion which I outlined in my analysis pages back. However, the problem with these expansions (especially WOD and Shadowlands) is they start off promising or they have promising features and then they get either tossed or become irrelevant after mere patches. Dragonriding is cool to an extent, but is that going to be a lasting feature? I don’t know. Borrowed power is an optional and unnecessary add on that doesn’t impede progression, but is it going to stay that way? I don’t know.

Regarding storyline, the universe is infinite right? So why not introduce a new big bad alien menace?
Start off slow, ramp up to end of xpac alien ass kicking.

Service guarantees citizenship!

Sylvanas is already kerrigan anyway, will anduin be raynor though with thrall being a not-evil version of acrturus?
however didn't "we" get all frens with the titans in legion? couldn't like the horde/alliance do the same thing as sargeras but in a much smaller scale? going around planets killing old gods people to cleanse it and all that, they could always pull a world for the newest xpac no problem and it makes sense in lore, even if some faggots might try to pull muh realism the riters could always dodge saying "its magic, magic don't gotta explain shit", not to mention new alien thingies looking like insects because old gods h.p lovecraft """influence""".

now that i mention it, doesn't valerian mengsk looks SIMILAR to anduin? keyword being similar, that could be a funny encounter where alliance officials meet valerian and think he is anduin, lol.

Blizzard has posted their Roadmap for WoW in 2023:

Always hated roadmaps since they very rarely outline what is going to be done and more their pie in the sky goals that will inevitably change. Not a Blizzard unique issue at least.

"Holiday Refresh" has me wondering if they're going to heavily edit the existing holidays in game. As far as I know none of them have terribly outdated content. Maybe they'll axe Thanksgiving because EEEBIL colonialism. In a game with actual colonialism in multiple expansions.

It's pretty much intentional, same personality, more peaceful approach to opposed faction rather than warmongering attitude like their father.
Also shamelessly having same voice actor, Josh Keaton.

I'm guessing Brewfest or whatever it's called is gonna be on the chopping block.

All of those folks with PTSD from the Cube Crawls will no longer have to literally shake when they toggle the event on or create new assets for it.

Don't think I ever saw them making new crap for it. That'd be news to me!

Really I really think its Thanksgiving or any far too American focused stuff. Maybe they'll lop off the Father Christmas stand in for something else. Even though the entire holiday is incredible tongue in cheek commentary about how capitalist it all is. They'll have to figure out who the jews are in universe to add a Hannukah equivalent. They could've made it the Draenei but that would mean their favorite faction mass slaughtered the jew stand-in.

Maybe they'll try to shoehorn in Kwanzaa too, as well as trying to force Socialist and Communist messages in the Christmas events.

That roadmap doesn't seem very substantial and certainly not the pace of other games - I would not have released that if I were them.

Two seasons until a substantialish update (zone/raid) and then another two seasons for the next.

thanksgiving in itself might be a burger occasion, but harvest festivals go back thousands of years. same for christmas (kinda) where it was more about the solstice or whatever pagan-worship that happened back then.

we both know this is gonna get replaced by kwanza and juneteeth anyway.

That's effectively what the big bad behind the behind the behind the scenes the past several expansions has been, the void lords. Which are somehow different from the old gods, because reasons.

Also in universe basically all aliens are Burning Legion already or weirdos like The Consortium.

Don't forget the multiverse where Spacegoat Hitler is a thing and whatever the fuck the Jailer was trying to save the universe from.

But yeah Dragon Isles is the last of what Blizzard has before going to space or another retarded alternate timeline.

Wait, doesn't that mean there's an alternate Jailer in the Spacegoat Hitler universe and that he's probably more order aligned? Are we going to get some kind of Spacegoat Hitler riding a Holy Jailer into battle or is it only the mortal plane that has alternate dimensions while all the other forces span across all of the, have access to all of them, but somehow fail to drag forces from all of them into their cause, but Archimonde was able to just walk into AU Spacegoat Hitler land? You know, this shit's kind of retarded.

As for other shit they can explore, well there's also the back side of Azeroth as that's still a mystery. There's the Nubian empire as it was supposed to be a huge mega zone in Wrath that go scrapped and might be as big as a continent considering they tunneled to Ice Crown without much issue. Then there's also the possibility of another bullshit island being found or something like Kezan somehow surviving and having passages into it.

They won't bring back Spacegoat Hitler because that would require the Draenei to succeed at something. I'm not really sure they put much thought into that entire scenario in the first place and its meant to be a throwaway excuse for the specific sub-sect of brown orcs to roll in.
