To be fair, the dub turned what was basically a programme for 12 year olds into one for 6 year olds. That and the fact it was PPG in name only.

The only thing I could sort of agree with is with the Chloe backlash, because Chloe really could've been written better than just being 'perfect'.

Having just learnt about her from this thread (seeing as how I stopped watching that like 7 years ago), I was all prepared to hate her. (They added a dog, too?) Until I learnt she was voiced by Kari Wahlgren, who is basically using a young Kagami Hiiragi voice. I just can't bring myself to hate that.

I could sperg for hours about how artistically uninspired and poorly designed the PPG reboot (and most shows on CN right now) and back up my assertions with art theory (I don't publicly, of course, for that would be insufferable). These fags can't even justify disliking it other than it uses memes from a few years ago and it's "transphobic."

If Tumblrinas were to sperg about how shit and samey all CN shows look right now, they'd be forced to criticize the holy Steven Universe, and we know they can't do that.

As much as shoving memes into a cartoon will date it, it's not like pop-culture references are a brand new thing that haven't been forced into shows since the beginning of entertainment. Isn't one of the most popular episodes of the original PPG a big Beatle's reference?

Between Toei's own Sailor Moon rip-off and the animation-failing and SJW-pandering of the new series, I'd think it's safe to say that the PPG will never rise to its former glory. Still the fact that the anime lasted 52 episodes has to count for something, I guess.

That said, I can't help but roll my eyes at these people. These guys don't seem to realize that not only are they defending children's shows, but also fail to consider that maybe, just maybe, they're probably too old for this shit (and that the past wasn't all that better either).

The people whining about how bad the PPG reboot and TTG are just contribute to the problem. Nostalgia-based marketing is such a huge fucking thing right now. Entertainment companies can market pretty much anything, no matter how terrible, if it plays to nostalgia. Quality, plot, et cetera don't matter; it just has to trigger muh nostalgias. Superhero movies and all these "reboots" are proof of it.

But these people blow up every single 'bad' reboot and end up marketing the fuck out of it to get more and more people to curiously look into it. As a result, more "bad reboots" get made.
