If people knew history at all, they'd know that tyrants don't care about 'peaceful protests' or 'legally and lawfully' going after them. When you think of a Genghis Khan, a Mao, or a Stalin, or a Lenin or a Pol Pot even, did they stop killing because the people said, "Please stop killing us"? Nah, they killed even harder after that.
